I have a sneaking suspicion that VGchartz will undertrack the 360 this month by about the same amount it overtracked it last month - in relation to NPD figures I mean...

Call me synical if you like.

 Im sure you mean cynical

oops. thanks stubbsy.

thats what 3 hours of uncharted on crushing does to you.... im done in!!

what do you reckon though, am i being cynical or is the site and its figures beyond that kind of skullduggery?

Considering that the website changes it's numbers when it knowingly gets them wrong.... and NPD never changes there numbers in the public if they were wrong... it'd be more like that NPD undertracked 360 last month and were making up for it this month.

The Wii has been pretty much down for a month... Supply constrained doesn't explain it so much because of the stead supply for the previous month and the fact that Nintendo has increased production. I hate to say anything like this but could the Wii be reaching some sort of saturation point with its current market?

Exactly, just like the DS.... oh, wait. ;)

See the problem with such a silly question is that if the Wii is at its saturation point at its amount per week/month sold, then that would also imply saturation at lower levels too, since the other systems aren't jumping in leaps and bounds to the Wii's numbers. The answer really is that the summer months in the US are generally slow, because people are on vacation. July/August usually aren't good days to release titles, because many people aren't around to buy the games, unless its a blockbuster title that people will kick the doors down for.

LOL at those Sony fanboys assuming the PS3 is supply constrained. Proof? And i don't mean BS proof from any Sony exec spin stories!!!

I was at a Rogers video the other day and they had no PS3 units, is that proof?  But they had 3 wii's and Mario kart.

That isn't even hard evidence let alone proof. Anecdotal evidence cannot be used to prove anything. Note that on ebay I can still get more for my Wii than what I payed for it while the PS3 is still going for less than retail price. This suggests the PS3 is available and the Wii is not.

That only suggests that people are stupid when it comes to buying a wii.  Maybe people should stop going to BestBuy or TRU at the end of the week and show up at the start when the new shipments arrive.  Or go to other stores which seem to have wii's in stock for a much longer time period.  HMV, Blockbuster and Rogers video, all seem to have wii's in stock whenever i go to them.

Why did the PS3 get a boost this week?

Around the Network

but surely you would have to shop around a lot more for a ps3 since its supply constrained then? yes?

People will not pay more for a product than they  have to . The fact that all the ebay listings close to closing out are above retail price is hard evidence that the Wii is not readily available at retail price. Your anecdotal evidence suggests you either live in a strange town or are lying.

Wii is still supply constrained, amazon and ebay are still selling Wii's way over $250 and are very hard to find in stores. All major retailers (Best Buy, Target, etc.) Still have Wii's listed as "sold out" on their websites.

Wii dipped at this time period last year as well (even lower i think). And here we are 1 year later and it's still supply constrained, i think it's stockpiling.

Guys someone knows if the numbers (softwares) will be up today?
