i see a 60-40 split favoring the ps3 with 9-10 million lifetime sales (if it comes out next holiday season if its out earlier 7-8.5). i would split it 50-50 but lack of a japan version, despite the info that seems to point to all other asian countries getting a version scews the numbers

Gta4 was overhyped like hell and it turned out to be dissapionted, hopefully ff13 will be great.

This sounds vaguely familiar to the "GTA4 will sell at least 2-1 on PS3 vs 360" argument.

 

The PS3-software-loyalty myth is getting old.

 

 

I do think it will sell better on PS3 cause thats they system it has been on from the start.  But 2-1 I dont think so especially not in America



PS3, WII and 360 all great systems depends on what type of console player you are.

its going be better than gta4 not sell as much.
but totally epic in each part from graphics, to music, story line and gameplay.

So, hey. We realize that you created this topic in an attempt to give us your vastly biased opinion about how many more copies of FFXIII will be sold on the PS3 than the 360.

We agree. However, I think it's a fairly safe bet that any actual number predictions you've made are wrong, in favor of the PS3. There should be some sort of formula to get a real prediction from your numbers, like (PS3 prediction * .6) and (360 prediction * 1.6) = actual numbers. A universal formula for you Rock, by Zenfoldor.

This post isn't about the quality of FFXIII.

Also, I'd appreciate not being called a "jrpg nut." I don't call you a PS3 nut, so I expect you to return the favor. Use the word fan or fanboy.

 

Speaking on the quality of the series, Obie has a point. He says that so many people will buy the game off hype, without realizing that yes, this game is still above all else, a jrpg, and yet completely different than FFVII. So, many will be dissapointed because they didn't buy based off their tastes, but instead the hype. It happens for every big game.

That said, I've never been dissapointed in a numbered Final Fantasy, and with the way this one looks, I doubt I'll start. Tri-Ace may have stumbled(but not fell) with IU, but Tri-Ace is a completely different developer than the FFXIII team(which you should realize).

It's a mainstream game from an arguably niche genre, which is relatively rare.

That's where these arguments stem from. However, I'd disagree, by saying that the presence of these mainstream examples make the genre mainstream, however that doesn't change the fact that many casual and mainstream gamers would be dissapointed with any jrpg that isn't FFVII, wheather they realize it or not.

OT, FFXIII won't see 7 million on ps3 as stated in the OP. It'll be hard-pressed to make 7 mil on ps3 and 360 combined!

It will be a high-profile multi-platform title that sells well, but does nothing to boost console sales?

Noo I don't think so. It will sell well in Japan, and overall, but in the US it won't touch GTAIV.
