Forums - Website Topics - I have an idea!Whenever someone votes for a game, mark it in their profile

I think this is a great idea as well, although I will admit to voting a bunch of 10s and 1s (mostly 10s) because those are the games I feel most strongly about.  I mean, I could go and vote 3s for games like StarFox Adventures, but it's more fun to vote 10 for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Well we all have strong feelings for certain games, but this will cause us to rethink if that game really deserves a 10.  If everyone sees that you hand out 10's like nothing, then it will reflect upon you, and some people may not respect your opinions as much.  When everyone sees that you vote a 10 everytime, you 2nd think giving a 10, because you want to save it for those special games that actually deserve a 10.  It's hard to take someone seriously if they just hand out strictly 10's and 1's.  By making votes public, it will cause people to take voting a little more serious, help prevent blatant abuse of the voting system, and of course, it will provide a means for us to see each others tastes in gaming!

Here's a video from my band's last show Check out more (bigger) videos here http://www.youtube.com/user/icemanout

Terrible idea. Nobody needs to see all the 1's and 10's I've handed out!

Actually it sounds good, but to be honest I'm not too concerned about the gamerankings. Just about any user ranking system gets idiots trying to push games one way or another. It just looked worse here because the database was so new and low in votes. In the months to come the legit voters will far outweigh the asses, the fanboys will cross eachother out and things will be peachy.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

No, I totally agree, we should put this in people's profiles, as I said it's a great idea.  But I also wanted to explain how perhaps someone could legitimately have voted only high/low stuff.  I really don't rate a lot of games 10s (especially more modern games), but I tend to vote for them since I want to credit them.

i've suggested this idea in the past... how come nobody chimed in when i was suggesting it!?

the Wii is an epidemic.

Sounds like the only way to go. I also think there needs to be restrictions on who can vote(or at least if a person's votes will be added to the rankings). Maybe something like the way editing the games in database works.

We really do need to see how a person votes; anything that enforces some kind of accountability to the faceless names on the net is a good thing.

I was wondering the other day if people could vote multiple times on a single game. That really does need to be fixed, but not at the expense of certain things(weekly charts), of course. :)

I, too, think that this is a good idea. I already think that you should only get one vote per game, and only if you're a member. This would be a neat way to share your gaming preferences, by quickly letting people know what you think about popular games.
I believe both of those issues have already been fixed. Only one vote now and you have to be signed in. I'm not sure how difficult it would be to set up showing the votes in profiles, but it could be interesting. I think ioi has been working on some other things lately though so even if it is considered, it could be awhile.
