Forums - Gaming - MSN: Why Mario should retire

yeah , his games are all about platforming greatness ad anything he ties into is pure gold...so i agree nin needs to stop making his great games and focus on bringing out a new mascot that way they don't make as much money and we still get a new plat former..great call guy

I think I agree and Mario should Retire.. I mean, it's now time to give Luigi some spotlight and let him appear in a Paper Luigi, Luigi Party, Luigi shall lead!!!!!!!

and lol @

Super Paper Mario on the DS

The fact of the matter is that mario has been making spin off games so long that if a Mario Sports game didn't appear we'd be thinking WTF happened to Mario.

Mario isn't just synonymous with Platforming, Mario Bros., or Donkey Kong anymore. Mario represents nothing less than Nintendo itself and removing him will only hurt Nintendo's image in the long run.

Typical M$ Bullshit.

Time to move on
But despite all of this, and despite the brilliant Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart on the Wii and Super Paper Mario on the DS, I have reached the inescapable conclusion that Nintendo should start thinking it would be better off looking to the next big thing.

? Super Paper Mario on the DS? lol

Guitar Hero 3/ Smash Hits

I can fully understand why he is suggesting that the icon of Mario be pushed back out of the fodder of the endless non "Super Mario" platforms, but the idea of there not being another "Super Mario" game in itself is blasphemy against the gods of gaming. Super Mario series has done more for gaming among all platforms than any single franchise ever. It will continue to bring in new ideas and technologies for years to come. Even on its low scoring hits like SMB2 or Sunshine, Mario games still are really decent games. However, at their best with games like Galaxy, NSMB, or SM64 there just is no comparison and nothing even comes close the the same plane of existence.

Mario will no longer be made into a feature game when Nintendo shuts down.

"But despite all of this, and despite the brilliant Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Kart on the Wii and Super Paper Mario on the DS, I have reached the inescapable conclusion that Nintendo should start thinking it would be better off looking to the next big thing."

I know this has been pointed out, but when someone who is making an article on gaming and wants to be taken seriously makes a statement like this, it should intolerable. All credibility is lost after this point.

Just kiss the tip.

It would have been more honest if he said ' I think Mario should retire and give 360 a chance...'

Yes, that's what it really comes down to. The article is full of compliments to Nintendo spinned in a way to say that Nintendo and gamers alike would be better off with retiring Mario.

Kiss and Kick...
