Its just an 80GB drive, these cost £1 more than 40GB drives.

Calling a 80gb crap is borderline trolling , and I haven't seen that much hype over the new 80gb.

It is because of MS, though. Microsoft's recent increases in HDD sizes would be one of the reasons as to why Sony increased their's, to keep their numbers bigger on the box, and to add value over the 360.

It's also a way to boost sales without a pricecut.

As smaller drives go out of production, like the 40gb drive, the cost-per-unit goes up. Sometimes it makes more economical sense to go increase.

some people are technologically stupid and dont know how to change their harddrive. It also is using a upgraded something so the PS3 no longer sucks down so much electricity. Many games these days are having installs, and even more to come for complete download on PSN. Sirens Blood Curse, Socom, smaller DLable games, and more all vying for space on a users hdd. This stuff adds up quick, especially if you have movies and music saved on to your PS3 like me.

I will upgrade from my 60gig in the near future, but I will just by a 180 HD like you said.
