Forums - Nintendo - What's going on with Wii supply?

It's because the demand is the highest in America. Watch what the sales are in America this year. They'll be enormous.

Nintendo to dominate this generation, needs to keep Europe on supply because that's where Sony always beaten them. In Americas they always sold well, plus weak dollar might also be a problem.

We don't have our data in for the week ending 8/23 yet but judging by weekly retailer ads the 8/23 week and 8/30 weeks are going to be quite big for Wii...especially given that Super Mario Sluggers seems to be getting a pretty good push.

I hope super mario sluggers does well (I know it will, but I hope it drives up wii hardware some).
i'm tired of the Wii not passing 100,000 in NA each week :)

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Well, by reading your post, the only reason I could think of is that Nintendo has been sending Wii's and Mario Karts to the UK instead of US lol.

Exactly, and my post is asking why. It seems crazy to ship Mario Kart to the UK in order to give it away free when it could be sold at full price in the US.

You said the retailers are packing it in free.   That means Nintendo already made their money on it because the retailer "bought" it from Nintendo to start with.   If it were Nintendo themselves packing the game with the console, then it would be a financial goof on Nintendo's part.

i agree. i  was thinking this would happen

Retailers in UK also had the Mario & Sonic bundles. But i don't know about the price they sold.
Anyway, it seems to be a promotional trick, or, if anyone remembers the rumours about the new SKU:s hitting the stores in August, this could be a clearance sale for the old ones.
