Forums - Microsoft - Buy level ups for Vesperia as DLC? Scamco strikes again

This happens all the time in MMOs and in those cases the company that makes the game does not see any money. The game being multiplayer does make it a little shady for the company to do this though.

I have no problem with the majority of download content. I have no pity for any gamer self absorbed enough or stupid enough to pay for things they should get freely, or is more then happy to reward a developer for their unscrupulous greed. What I do have a problem with is when this stupidity encroaches upon my gaming, and functions as a competitive cheat. I do not like cheaters period.

I am cool with people harming their own gaming experience, but this content will probably not disable the achievements which are a form of peer competition. So these players will be using money to purchase an unfair advantage. I suppose I cannot purchase this game now, because it is a cheat source for achievement points. I would prefer that other members on Live think more highly of me as a gamer. Rather then think I am looking for easy achievement points. I also really detest what the company is selling that is just pathetic of them.

The achievements in this game will be only slightly less reprehensible then the points in Avatar. For those who do not know their is a tactic in Avatar that will get you all one thousand achievement points less then five minutes into the game. A good way to know if someones gamerscore is total shit, because you can be sure they have unearthed a lot of cheap achievement points.

So basically they are charging you for what a lot of games give you the ability to do with cheat codes.

Dungeon too hard for you? Either spend hours grinding to a higher level, or just spend 300 MS points! It kinda takes out the sense of achievement when there is an easy way out.

This is setting a bad precedent. How long before someone makes a RPG where all weapon/armor shops in the game work only with MS points, not in-game currency?

this is bad, but not as bad as need for speed buyables

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Ah.. this brings back memories of using a game shark to create uber-pokemon and sell them to little childeren for 5 bucks.. xD Hey, if Namco can earn xtra money to make great games for us I'm all for it!!!

Here's the question...

Say it takes you 3 hours of playing to get 10 levels. It could be longer or it could be shorter but 3 hours is not an unreasonable amount of time.

Say it takes you 1 hour to earn $15 by working at a job.

If 10 levels cost $3 then by working in real life, you could get enough money to buy 50 levels. Thus you gain 5 times as many levels in 1/3 of the time.

And of course, you can always get more money, but you can NEVER get that time of your life you spent grinding for levels back.

Scamco LMAO...anyone who pays for this "DLC" shouldn't be playing JRPGs.The SCIV one was bad enough but it only cost $1.50 for the extra CaS parts so I didn't complain. Also, the fact that Vader and Yoda are also going to become DLC is pretty shameful but this ToV version is borderline theft.

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

I saw this on kotaku. Here's why I like it:

New Game + in the Tales series requires you to make sacrafices on things that carry over.

If, say, I choose to carry over my skill set on my first new game +, and not any experience increases, then I can simply buy them for my new game.

Secondly, it allows players who struggle with the battle system, and can't beat a certain boss, a way not to get stuck.

I wish Lost Odyssey had offered this, towards the end of the game I would have taken advantage of it, and I don't think the game would have been as frusterating to me.

That's why I like it, and yes, I think it's a great idea, but I understand why some people might have an issue with it. However, you must remember, that single player jrpgs aren't meant to be competitive.

Basically this is a pay per cheatcode. It's a one shot game-genie, and I like it. I think that people who do have a problem with this, probably also have issue with the game genie. They're pissed off because namco is embracing cheating in their games.

However, I think that it cuts down on frusteration, and I wish that every game had this option.

Frankly, this will help a lot of people, and you don't have to use it if you don't want to, so I don't think anybody should get all righteously indignant.

The "multiplayer" for the game amounts to a guy on controller 2 helping you in battles, so this hurts absolutely no one, and helps a ton of people. That's my 2 cents, and nothing anyone has said against it makes any sense. I want to know WHY this is a bad thing. Tell me. Explain as if I were a 2 year old.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

In the good old time, we called that a cheat code and we didn't have to pay for it. So, Fuck You Scamco.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

Oh widdle Zenfoldie. Ok now sit down widdle guy and wisten to a big guy talk. Scwamco they don't do nice things. They make pee pull like Onyx a big guy pay wots of money. That makes Onyx sad. You undoostand now widdle Zenny?

Now if I were talking to a Zen that isn't a 2 year old. Frankly this game doesn't matter. I'm more upset with Namco's general attitude towards DLC, which is nickle and diming customers for everything. Ace Combat 6 and it's $100 of DLC just irks me. This is not very bad at all, but it's hard to seperate this DLC from the other nickle and diming they do which probably should be either cheaper, free, or on the disc. If SCIV has DLC from day one that could have fit on the disc, like music and clothing, then it probably should have been on the disc in the first place. Namco sacrifices game features they could have included on the disc fo the benefit of getting a few dollars here and there out of customers.
