Forums - Nintendo - Virtual console problems on HDTV

I bought this TV today: http://www.samsung.com/uk/consumer/detail/spec.do?group=television&type=television&subtype=tftlcd&model_cd=LE40A656A1FXXU&fullspec=F

And I seem to be having problems displaying most Virtual Console games.  I'm running it through component, with the Wii settings set to EDTV/480p, I've tried changing the settings, I've also tried re-downloading the titles.  The N64 games I have work fine, as does Vigilante and Alien Crush on Turbo Graphix, and SSF2 on SNES, but none of other games seem to work - Toejam, Vectorman, Golden Axe, Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts, Comix Zone, Punch Out...they appear to load, then just act as though they're paused.  When paused, I can see the image behind the pause options, but when I unpause, I just get a black screen with the music playing.  We think all the games that don't work are 50hz...It is a 100hz TV, could this be the poblem?  Super Mario Galaxy works fine.

I thought I remember a few games having problems on component cables, and a solution was to just switch to composite cables...but that's obviously a hassle.  There was a firmware update that should have fixed it though, yes.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

All the games doesn't support the component interlaced mode (atleast for some games it's mentioned that the games support it), although i thought that a firmware update had fixed the problem, so i'd say that there's where your problem is. Try through composite, if it works, there's propably your problem.

Ei Kiinasti.

Eikä Japanisti.

Vaan pannaan jalalla koreasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

1. While on the Wii Channel Menu (main screen of the Wii), connect a Nunchuk to Wii Remote.

2. Select the Virtual Console game from the Wii menu, then select "Start" to begin the game.

3. When the game starts, press the Home button on the Wii Remote. (In many games, the music can be heard when the game starts.)

4. Select "Operations Manual" from the Home menu.

5. Press the Z + A + 2 Other Buttons simultaneously (the Z Button is on the Nunchuk). A sound will be heard if the button combination has been entered correctly.

6. Enjoy your VC games.

I also had the same problem.

Try this.

Initially, some PAL Virtual Console games would not display correctly on high-definition televisions when connected via the component lead. However, starting with the April 13, 2007 update of the PAL Virtual Console, certain newly added games, such as Punch-Out!!, support the "Wii Component Cable Interlace mode." This is a temporary fix to problems with various Virtual Console games being played over component cable on HDTVs. The mode can be enabled by accessing the operations guide of the game, and (with the Nunchuk attached) pressing the buttons Z + A + 2 simultaneously. A sound is played if the mode is enabled correctly. Several older games also have updates available to enable the feature, such as Super Castlevania IV. The mode can be disabled by using the same method, but with the button combination Z + A + 1 instead. A full list of games supporting this mode is available at nintendo.no, an English version can be found at vc-forums.com
