We've just won Gold in Sailing, Rowing, Cycling, etc. Reached the Rugby World Cup Final two tournaments on the run, won the Cricket Ashes in 2005, yet we're rubbish at Football and it's still our favourite sport. No to mention English footballers are too big for their boots and get paid way too much. It's obscene isn't it.

Cause you like to watch how it's supposed to be played by all the foreigners playing in the Premier League?? So that you have a tiny bit of hope that someday the England squad will play like that???

you seem to forget that we have the best football league in the world. granted that's because we have the most foreign players in a league. i admit that england are probably the most overrated national squad ever, england as a team suck really bad at fooball. but if you want to watch the best football from the best players in the world, you come to the premiership. simple.

well at least our football actually involves feet for the bulk of the game lol.

 

as a matter of fact, england are pretty much sub-standard at every sport i can think of; football, cricket, rugby, tennis.  they don't stand out at anything.

Perhaps because for a large majority its way more exciting than swimming or cycling. Also the fact we english invented it and its been in our culture for hundreds of years.

heh. you should check out the salaries of some American baseball players. Alex Rodriguez makes more than $26 million per year.

Yes.. rubbish when you put them together in one team... I'm sorry but it's the truth...

England lacks a creative player like Sneijder, Deco or Bergkamp...  and a second striker..

and why does England don't have a decent Goalkeeper??? I mean van der Sar, Chech, Reina, Almunia, Gomes.. al foreigners! And no David James isn't decent..

dont tell me u like american football, thats the biggest pile of crap iv have ever seen. they have about 20 brakes ever 10 minutes, start stop start stop and football isnt the biggest sport in england its the biggest in the world

It could be the same thing that happened with Hockey in Canada. Since the players were all professional they were not allowed to compete in the Olympics or simply did not want to. The IOC starting allowing professional players a few years ago, Mid 90's I think and then we starting winning Gold.
