Forums - Gaming - Timed-Exclusivity?

Well, ignoring for a moment the fact that MS pays developers for said timed exclusivity.

The fact is, most PS360 games are still developed for the 360 and then ported to the PS3 - so it makes sense for them to release the 360 version when it's done, rather than waiting for the PS3 version to be done

FFXIII?

Nope......I gotta wait because the 360 version will hold up the release in America.

Maybe, maybe not. Remember that it's generally about seven months between the Japan and North America release dates due to the localization process and everything. If it's significantly more than that, then we'll have a pretty good idea that the 360 port held things up.

What's all this about the 360 version delaying the PS3-version of FF13? As far as I know, they've only said that FF13 will come later outside of Japan, and one of the reasons that Japan isn't getting it for the 360 is because they're going to use the time it takes to translate the game to finish work on the 360-version. From what I've understood, both versions will come (outside of Japan) right when they were supposed to. Where's all this delay stuff coming from?

Anger.

Regarding Rockband 2, that's what I read. Though, I could be wrong. And you're right, this garbage with timed-exclusivity needs to stop. Regarding Tales of Vesperia, I just threw it in there for some comical relief.

PS2 got plenty of time exclusives last gen. It's not any difference now it just happen to not be on the console of your choice.  So you are not upset about time exclusive you are just upset that it's not on the PS3 first.

As for Rock Band 2, only the game will be out on the 360 first, the full hardware bundle is going to be out at the same time with PS3 (and Wii?).  From what I read, this simply because they could implement the b/c of the DLC much faster on XBL than the PSN.

LOL. Yeah, how is the UT modding scene?

Because the PS3 version will be DONE. It'll be sitting on the shelves of the Square Enix factory and won't be released to the public until the 360 version is done

there isn't a published timed exclusivity deal.
unless they actually pay money to square secretly

anyway sony got a first party second party studios working for them

in contrast to microsoft that have nothing.
third party can't ignore ps3 for long especially in japan that have more than 4 times xbox360 market.

xbox360 may have the third party sometimes first but when the games are released on the ps3 they will have a huge market too, plus the first parties.

I would love to believe this, but my question now is this.

Why not delay the 360 version until the PS3 version is completed?

They seem to have no problem doing the opposite with Final Fantasy XIII.

I believe this question has not been answered yet.

Because if its already done there's no reason to not release it. It doesn't make any business sense to do so. Its better to get the return on investment now instead of months down the track.

I have bought all three consoles on their release or close to it...

I like them all, but Sony has ticked me with PS3. Last year, I purchased several PS3's with the empty marketing from Sony that there were going to be a bunch of their best games last Christmas. None of the ones that I really wanted came out (KZ2, LBP, MGS4). So they successfully marketed to me and encouraged me to buy a $699 and $599 consoles to play games that were secondary on my list.

Now, one year later the consoles are $100 less expensive and the games I wanted are coming out. By the time all the titles ship the console will probably be $200 cheaper then I paid... Other then that I like PS3, just leaves a sour taste that their marketing made empty promises last year at E3.

Assuming it takes longer than the usual 7 month localization time to port the game to 360.
