Look at you all overstepping your station...
The numbers are provided by VGchartz, you either accept them or you don't.
I don't think any normal member here has any right at all to be challenging the data provided by ioi...
Quit ya moaning, it all gets ironed out in the end.
Who cares?
Same old PS3 owners questioning it each month, without meaning to generalise, but I think nearly everyone in this thread owns a PS3 do they not?
(me too in a months time, but what is the point here?)
There's NO WAY ON EARTH NPD data can be anywhere near correct...
How many people have we had in here saying "Oh no PS3s in my area"..."Sold out for miles around"...and all the rest of it!
Yet its sold, according to NPD...as a typical month!
Trouble with the whiners is they want their cake and to eat it too.

Sony Microsoft and Nintendo seem to think so.
As do countless other third-parties.
Just sayin'.
We do need a 360 adjustment though.
The fire sale helped none.
How about all you complainers instead of bitching and stuff go and find all the NPD releases for the PS3 and 360. Add them all up and see what their total is for America. Then take the total for VGChartz american PS3 and 360 and compare
You can't just adjust for this. What if VGChartz has ps3 at 6 million in us and so does NPD exactly. Then that means in the past vgchartz either was overtracking the ps3 all the time and this month undertracked it but it still is correct. Or it means NPD was undertracking the PS3 all the time and now this month overtracked it to make up difference.
Either way the numbers are the same in the end so why adjust them to be wrong?
So if you want to have a case bring up the overall end numbers then. If NPD is much higher than VGChartz PS3 then yea VG might be undertracking.
I don't know what everyone is fighting about, there are always post NPD adjustments to both software and hardware, they will come with next weeks numbers.
As in go buy us some coffee.

@usyk&DMJ: The NPD numbers are official as "official NPD numbers". Just like we have "official VGC numbers".
Since "official" basically means "stand behind them", not some ultimate truth, anyone can enter the market and make as "official" market research as NPD. Then again, "official" can also be "approved by someone", which is context related.
Anyway, the main reasons for using NPD is, that it's the authority and there's no competing company.
Ei Kiinasti.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

This isn't a comment regarding the veracity of NPD's numbers, but don't Sony, MS, and Nintendo pay attention to them because they're released to investors, etc., and the big-3 feel a need to respond?

but what if VG doesn't need to do them.
Like I said above. What is NPD lifetime to date PS3 sales in U.S. vs VG and ditto for 360. If they are the same any adjustments would make it wrong. and would mean either of two things
1. vgchartz had been overtracking ps3 and undertracked it this week to make up difference.
2. npd had been undertracking ps3 so it overtracked it this week to make up difference.
So before you bitch get all the facts so you know how it is. What is LTD of each tracker for the systems.

It's not all about totals, I mean if I wanted to I could put the 360 outselling the PS3 since both of the consoles released and then randomly add 8 million one week to the PS3's total to make up the difference.
The real issue here is that ioi has the 360 beating the PS3 for the month of July, and that didn't happen according to NPD. They wouldn't just overtrack/undertrack to make up differences, the numbers actually have to make sense. You can't put the Wii at 30k for the first 3 weeks of a month and then put it up to 500k for the last week, it doesn't make sense.
So like I said, its more about who outsold who than actual totals, if the totals are fine, then they are fine, but that doesn't mean you can ignore the fact that the PS3 beat the 360 in July, it has to be changed.
