Were did you get this from? NPD gets retail reports they dont estimate anything

 

I see the ignorance is strong with you. NPD doesn't count every system out the door. They don't have any data from Walmart or ToysRus, so they have to estimate something.

Walmart is out right the biggest electronics seller, and ToysRus does extremely well on the Nintendo front.

I'm not claiming NPD sucks, but at least I know that they can make mistakes.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

No way. NPD are a professional tracking firm. If they were found out to alter there numbers to make VGC look bad, it would seriously harm there credibility.

They have to estimate about 40% of there sales numbers IIRC as they do not have total tracking. For one they do not have any Wal-Mart numbers as Wal-Mart does not provide them.

 

I must say these numbers are very weird almost to the point of unbelievable real.

Also I agree, I did not expect the ps3 to outsell the 360 in july because of the price cut and nothing else.

Highly doubtful.  And if that 1% chance it's true...

They would be destroyed if a leak somehow let that slip to the public.  Companies use NPD data to analyze sales trends to adjust their own marketing and pricing strategies.  Millions of dollars are spent/not spent after considering NPD numbers.  Remember, NPD isn't just about videogame sales.  If their VG division loses credibility their entire operation loses credibility. If it were ever to come out that NPD is altering the data the fallout would be huge.

I disagree that NPD doesn't care about VGC though.  Mr. Riley has made it abundantly clear that he cares about this site.  Cares enough to trash it around the internet like a generic fanboy on a rant.

you need to expect that vgchartz or vg360chartz always overtrack the 360, you need to do research and alwayss but always overtrack the 360 but falss short on ps3 and sometimes on wi. ioi need to adjust the 360 numbers by all the months that he overtrack the system.
