Highly doubtful. And if that 1% chance it's true...
They would be destroyed if a leak somehow let that slip to the public. Companies use NPD data to analyze sales trends to adjust their own marketing and pricing strategies. Millions of dollars are spent/not spent after considering NPD numbers. Remember, NPD isn't just about videogame sales. If their VG division loses credibility their entire operation loses credibility. If it were ever to come out that NPD is altering the data the fallout would be huge.

I disagree that NPD doesn't care about VGC though. Mr. Riley has made it abundantly clear that he cares about this site. Cares enough to trash it around the internet like a generic fanboy on a rant.
