This be kind of cool I think.

360 owners will soon be able to buy, via their web browser, Marketplace content which is automatically downloaded to their home console, while developers will be able use direct link iTunes-like URLs that let them virally promote their Xbox Live Arcade creations – all as part of new features designed to spur further use of Microsoft’s online content sales.

...

The same features are also expected to be available to indie developers using the XNA Creators Club channel when that launches with the new Xbox 360 dashboard update later this year.

Nice, I'm looking forward to this.

What they also need to do is have a PC Marketplace with XBLA games at the same price as on the 360.

We don't provide the 'easy to program for' console that they [developers] want, because 'easy to program for' means that anybody will be able to take advantage of pretty much what the hardware can do, so the question is what do you do for the rest of the nine and half years? It's a learning process. - SCEI president Kaz Hirai

It's a virus where you buy it and you play it with your friends and they're like, "Oh my God that's so cool, I'm gonna go buy it." So you stop playing it after two months, but they buy it and they stop playing it after two months but they've showed it to someone else who then go out and buy it and so on. Everyone I know bought one and nobody turns it on. - Epic Games president Mike Capps

We have a real culture of thrift. The goal that I had in bringing a lot of the packaged goods folks into Activision about 10 years ago was to take all the fun out of making video games. - Activision CEO Bobby Kotick

this so wont be successful

How is that?

Did you even read the article.  This isn't about selling XBLA content to use on the PC.  It's about buying XBLA for your 360 via a online store you can access on your computer.  It's just another means to access the content instead of on your Xbox.  It's not going to hurt the store by any means and even if it's neglible it will still increase already strong sales on the 360's marketplace.  I don't see how you can already say it's going to be unpopular.  It's not like there isn't a precedent for this.  Bungie.net has shown that users will accept a strong online counterpart to 360 content.  Also look at all the gamercards you see on this very forum.  Accessing 360 player information on the PC is again very well used.  Browsing the store content imo is just another extension of this intergration.

This was revealed quite a while ago actually.  I don't know how much I would actually purchase content while I am away from home but it would be nice to browse the store with a mouse and keyboard.  A nice search feature would also be a welcome addition.

not sure how the new dashboard interface will look, but i can't imagine it will be nicer than browsing content on the PC and purchasing it there. i'm really looking forward to this.

It is not a question of being successful or not. It is just another way of purchasing and viewing content that is available for the 360 from the market place. Another bag of tricks for advertisement and accessibility for developers. If it doesn't get used...so what. I am sure it was easy to implement based on the Live infrastructure.

I could see myself using this a lot when I'm at work. I usually forget to buy stuff when I get home.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

Nice feature to have!

Doesn't the PSN already have this??

This was announced at E3
