...........I was serious when asking what the game really is about.................

........Does anybody know??

fun. Just creating things and running through platforming with the art of the game is limitless. Pop it in light up a delicious hookah and enjoy for hours with your friends. Just what us PS3 owners NEED.

Countles new levels daily....this game will rarely leave my PS3.

That's it?.....Now, I have played games with no ultimate goal like Wii Sports, Brain Age, and such...but a platformer with no goal but to run around in levels either given by the game or created by users and receiving prizes in the end....well, that's a new one for me....

Well, now I have to think about this one....don't know if I can honestly say I would want to buy the game if there isn't a story behind it.....

well, i mean did you REALLY play super mario to "save the girl" or did you play it because its fun to run through jump on baddies and just play it?

Yeah I played for the greal levels AND to save the girl......what is with that look?..... so what if I had a wild imagination....

Explanation of sig:

I am a Pakistani.....my name is Dan....how hard is that? (Don't ask about the 101...apparantely there are more of me out there....)

I think Little Big Planet has an identity crisis. PS3 fans keep declaring it is the ultimate casual game, but its based around building and swapping levels online, a completely hardcore experience.

If the game IS hardcore it will sell very well in and of itself but wont push consoles (as one would have to think between early Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii adopters that the hardcore market has been tapped).

IF the game is casual it will not sell well or push many consoles, unless the PS3 sees a LARGE price drop prior to the game's release.

I don't think you can look at it so narrowly. Sure, the game is meant for building, but if you aren't a creative person, or don't have the time to make the levels you want, etc. then you can just play the levels someone else made. I'm very confident there will be enough space for that kind of people.

There was this really great game premised around playing really fun platforming levels somebody else made, and it sold really well. It was called Super Mario Bros.

My point being, just playing levels that somebody else who isn't a developer made isn't any better than playing levels that a developer made, and it is often worse because the developer has more polish. In order to get the full value from LBP you need to 1: Own a PS3, 2: Like 2D Platformers (Which are a dead genre outside of portables), and 3: Want to create levels. There are going to be people who meet all 3 criteria and they're gonna love the game, but I just don't think it's mainstream.

OTOH, I disagree with the OP as just another troll.

Wii has more 20 million sellers than PS3 has 5 million sellers.

I don't understand why you're having such a conceptual issue with the idea of the game. If people want to have a story they certainly can, have you seen the commercial with the level on saving a princess? The overall game may not have a story (that remains to be seen as far as the levels given with the game) but each level can have it's own story. I don't see how that's any worse than an overarching story that is almost never touched on at all. Super Mario Brothers was certainly fun don't get me wrong. But emotional and meaningful storytelling it is not.

To be fair, the concept is fairly hard to understand, and when you are eventually forced to bring up the fact that a large portion of this game relies on online connectivity and other friends who also own the game, it might be a harder sell to the demographic, than say, Mario.

There is a probability that most of the people who purchase this game, and don't have access to PSN, will possibly end up dissapointed.

We should make it clear to potential purchasers that to get the most out of this game, you need an internet connection that can support PSN. If you don't have one, then the game just isn't gonna be as good. That's a fact that's not true for many of the best single player games. MGSIV, GTAIV, FFXIII, Mario Galaxy, Zelda, and DS or PS2 game, these games aren't vastly improved with online connectivity. That's not a point, but it's something to keep in mind. Adding online as an extra feature is one thing, requiring it for a complete gameplay experience is another. Just ask the people who signed the petition trying to get Mass Effect to drop its online registration requirements.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

It looks to hard to play imo. It might cover development costs but it wont make real money. What do you guys think?

It took 37 people to make. I can't fathom it not making a profit.

Will it sell 4 Million + maybe... maybe not.

My guess would be 2 Million unless it was bundled.  But hey,  I hope i'm wrong.  These "Create" games are only second behind SRPGs in my favorite genres list.

If they ever make a SRPG maker I may never need another game ever again.

That's bull Zen, many games require online capabilities to fully utilize a game. Any game with online mulitplayer would fall under this category and therefore MKwii and SSBB should have the same kind of warning that you think might be necessary for LBP.

The game will come with 50 levels straight out of the box, and even if you can't connect to the internet you can still create your own levels. Not having online only takes out the sharing part of "create, play, share" mantra that the game is based around. You will still have a full and complete game even without an internet connection. It's true some may be disappointed, but only if they go into the game expecting to be able to share their creations and gain more from others, and if they know that much about the game they can probably surmise that it will take an internet connection to acheive.

Many people are underestimating the developers' ability to make fun levels with their own engine. I think that very few people will be disappointed by this game, what I've read about the levels that come with the game itself is nothing but encouraging.

...

I SOOO agree with you...wait..what?...

lol...what a pathetic OP...

I think it'll sell though...just...not as much as it would sell on a certain other...console
