Forums - Gaming - For those who like JRPGs, how promising are Infinite Undiscovery and....

Square Enix and new ips usually mean good things....can't say about the other ips that they use over and over again.

Seriously (and I would like to say I'll buy them both), they look absolutely the same and don't feel original at all.

IU not original?  You must have high standards for originality if you think IU is unorignal.  The gameplay is a little different from from the typical JRPG.  JRPGs are slowly becoming stale so IU is actually going to be fresh air for a lot of people.  Other than the used take on the turn based battle system though, The Last Remnant does look like a typical S-E RPG but it still looks good.

I was talking about the characters design. They all seem to look similar: FFXIII, IU, The Last Remnant and Star Ocean. I know they want to do "realistic" looking games but they need to do it for all of them. It's not like Namco who tries different things with Tales and Eternal Sonata. I also have to admit I have trouble remembering which one is which. The combat system in IU looks good though. So to answer the question, I think they all look as promising and I couldn't say which one interests me the most before playing it. I'll grab them both anyway.

How many cups of darkness have I drank over the years? Even I don't know...

I'm more excited for LR than for IU. Hope both are good though.

I have to agree. But eventually IU will surprise me :)

Not very promising...

S-E are going for a realistic look possibly to appeal to Western gamers because they need money from the Western market.  Tales is using anime style because the Tales series is most popular in Japan where anime is mainstream.  There are tons of people in the West who won't even touch a game if they use the anime style

@Obliterator1700:

Your opinion with that flag makes me go LOL all the way.

Both games looks great, and should be. Most promising, for me, are Infinite Undiscovery. Feels kind of ''Epic'', the only thing that was not so impressive, was the damn english voice when screaming attack names. And the ''Bad guy'' reminds me of Eternal Sonata, and thats not a good thing. But other than that - Cant wait to buy and play.

Here's hoping that the English VA in the trailer were merely placeholders.  The antagonist is obviously evil but he could just be a servent or bodyguard or whatever to the real antagonist.  We can hope atleast.  As long as he is not one-dimensional like Gongora

They both look very interesting, I hope they turn out good.

Riachu, did you enjoy Lost Odyssey?

I'm not going in with high hopes.
