Forums - Sony - New Killzone 2 Multiplayer Video

^^ I was referring to the GeoW franchise. I thought Halo was just an online game?

Hell no. It has a very deep storyline with lots of enemies. The problem with the series is after part 1 part 2 and 3 were just too short. Part 1 was the most aesthetically pleasing, while 2 and 3 were really just team battles which carried on with storyline. Even with that, it's still much better than most other console shooters. The real problem with Gears. Gears was short in terms of storyline, but the gameplay is amazing and ground breaking with bayonet saw guns. I LOVE THE GORE!!! You cannot compare the Gears series with PS3 games, because Gears is a Third person shooter...not a first person. Cliff Bleszinski says that Gears of War 2 is going to have their multiplayer worked on. They really werent working much on multiplayer in part one. I cannot wait.

What the heck? I get weird feeling about this, not good at all. =(

But well from previous videos I'm more than impressed about this game. Hope gameplay delivers.

Wow stage, I really thought your version of "ground breaking" might actually be what's considered in the industry as "Ground breaking" o.O; I guess were all allowed to be wrong at times.

What is it exactly that Halo introduced to the FPS scene? As far as I can tell absolutely nothing o.O; it was the typical flair of a first person shooter, with a bucket of polish. Why do you think it's got so many fans? Why do you think it's so accessible? The game's are VERY generic, they're just clean, balanced fun, and that's not a bad thing. Halo is a series that took no risk's in doing something a little different. It's the stuff that everyone's come to love, just polished. Very, VERY, generic, in fact.. .like.... super generic if I had to say. If your looking for "depth" in Halo's gameplay, you won't really find it :x Depth can be complicated, and if somethings too complicated, it doesn't appeal to the larger audience.

My friend played resistance and fell head over heels for it, the secondary fires added an element to the gameplay that he hadn't seen since Perfect Dark for the N64. My other friend however, played the game, and never touched the secondary fires, he said the game felt boring. Well of course it felt boring! You took a mechanic they implemented from square 1, and you ignored it! You took the reason the game was amazing, and you left it behind, making it a standard shooter :P And that's my big prob with Halo, there isn't that something extra to be ignored, it's just very, very... bland.

Simple really: It perfected the dual analog FPS controls. Remember now, R3 has always been crouch ever since that game came out (or if the game is Resistance, it's L2 for an unknown reason, or COD 4, it's another button...). Also, ever seen a game before that introduced vehicles in a way Halo did? Ever noticed the regenerate health concept got popular for every other FPS games after this one? What about Co-op, in a console FPS? Melee attacks became a default concept in FPS as well, etc.

I'll give you a full list if you want. Please don't say anything else, for a bit. =P

Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Videos dont seem to be working? "Were sorry, video no longer available"?

@SHUMP, yes, yes, yes, and... yes? I've been playing PC games long before Halo ever existed. And don't tell me that console only stuff, if you've got a blueprint of something, it's not terribly hard to emulate it. The shield thing... really?

Please don't even mention the vehicles in Halo. Halo is NOT a vehicular combat game, just a combat game, WITH vehicles. Did you ever get to play PC games like Desert Eagle or Battlefield? I'm assuming you haven't :x

Halo took idea's that were already around, tossed them together, and created the "Bamf" game apparently. All the while using 0 risk additions. They haven't revitalized anything :/

And another major problem I have with halo is that all the weaponry feels generic, that sense of firepower is absent from the series, and in a genre that spends 90% of the time on the trigger, you'd think they wouldn't forget such a simple fundamental.

Halo's charm comes from the fact that every person in the world can pick it up and have a good time, it's got practically 0 learning curve, and that my friend isn't the basis of innovation or pioneering. It's as generic as they come :/

Obviously, I can't argue with an avid PC gamer as you are (just taking a guess here), but I'm sure you're not dumb enough to tell me that all of these features were already available in a single other FPS game before (aside from the vehicles in Battlefield, that I did play by the way, and they are NOT a big part of the gameplay compared to some parts in Halo).

What are you trying to say though? It should have been another game that take the credit? So what if they took the ideas? As far as I know, they are the first to put them together instead of releasing new ideas bit by bit, and it worked! What's better is that it was a console FPS that introduced the FPS-feature heavy idea, how is that not innovation?

Halo was true step in the FPS on console. I agree.

Resistance 2 and KZ2 are still average to me. They seem so cookie cutter, besides for the 300 ft monster. but even that looked like a full on Cinematic. I'm sorry...if a 300 ft monster grabs you and throws flings you away, you're dead."

Time to Work !

I'm not trying to say Halo is a bad game. I mean by no ways that generic = bad. I just don't like that people put halo on a pedestal and refuse to give other games credit. Then games that actually take risk's get set in the "generic shooter" pile, when the game they cherish so much is pretty much the "perfect cookie cutter".

I haven't seen the secondary fire in all that many games, the only two I really played like that were Perfect Dark, and Unreal Tournament. To me, that idea is still very fresh, and it COMPLETELY overhauls the strategic elements to the gameplay. If you don't get a hold of the secondary fires, the online community in resistance is going to destroy you :P No if's and's or butt's. They have a steep learning curve, and it WILL turn some people away. But I'm fine with that, because if you take the time to learn it, it's very rewarding.

Killzone 2 is adding this new "pick and mix" class system, and from the sounds of it, it's got a TON of promise ^^ The last game I played that had a system like that was Final Fantasy XI :P and before that... FF Tactics XD And when I see things like this, that are actually attempting to do something "newish", they get flamed and stabbed as being generic. While games like Halo, which play so much on the safe side, get hailed as like the second coming of Christ :P

I just don't like such simple classification of games sometimes... that or mis-matched labels.
