I don't think it's going to happen...
For that to happen an appealing image is required, to get such an image the right software and features need to be pushed.

Wii: 80-85 Million end of 2009 (1.1.09)
If assume the Xbox360 is price elastic and given that the numbers of Pro/Elite models sold would be expected to fall, and an average selling price of 340 before the cut and an average selling price (ASP) of $250 after the cut.
102,000 consoles per week at $340 ASP gives 34.68million in revenue.
34.68million in revenue divided by the $260 new ASP means we would expect the Xbox360 to sell on Average 140,000 consoles per week in the U.S.
The Wii sold an average of 170,000 consoles per week in the U.S
If my elasticicity is correct then based on the previous years data there actually may be some truth to that statement.

Just a LIIIIITle bit? Because MGS4 bundle pack pushed the PS3 past Wii for a week at $500. You don't think a 360 at $300 less then that could do it consistantly?
The Wii's price advantage is over.....

Also I expect Sony to respond with a price drop by october orrrr if they are smart by september that would curb these sales. I think Nintendo will not drop the price of the Wii this year. |
Is this prediction WW or NA?
If NA: It's possible, but unlikely.
If WW:Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.
In response to your last post, how Wii is selling compared to other consoles has nothing to do with price drops.
I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
Sorry to say this, but that wont happen. First of all Wii already has the casuals locked on. Secondly the Ps3 has some big Titles coming along too. While i do belive the Xbox does have a chance to outsell the ps3 weekly cause of the $200 price tag if it is indeed true; i just dont see it outselling the Wii weekly.

I actually lol'ed at that one. I'm still laughing as I type this too.

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

I could see it if the average price for Xbox 360 was to be $200...but its not going to happen that way. The average of the three models is probably still going to be close to $270 or so depending on the proportions of the $200/$300/$400 split. If the three models sold in equal volume it would be an average of $300.
If you think its more like ~ 60% $200 model, ~ 30% $300 model, ~ 10% $400 model then the average price will be more like $250...which is what Wii costs. But, Wii appeals to wider demographics, and its 'percieved' value is probably still higher because it includes Wii Sports which alot people would be willing to $30-$50 for.
