In RPG's you have to like to do the same moves over and over to level up it can get really boring. Imagine having to press the jump button thousands of times to max up your acrobats skill level that would drive you insane.

I've failed to see an RPG with just one move.... more like each character has an attack, combo's, and a list of special attacks like how Legendia had ares and TOTA had artes.

In shooters you have to shoot things over and over again, you have to reload bullets, in rpg's you have to refill your MP [that's what most of them use.]

In shooters you never get stronger.... you just get new guns.... in RPG's you level up and get new abilities, moves, etc....

Which one would you consider more repetitive???

As a former die-hard Final Fantasy fan, even I'm not too hyped about this game.

Hackers are poor nerds who don't wash.

Well, that's his problem, ain't it? I believe that there are many 360 owners who are rightly pleased over getting Sony's trumph card to their platform and I think they should be.

Hey the guy is allowed to have an opinion. The guy is obviously not a fan of JRPG's. He must be a good old shooter fan.

yeah right like FF has anything good from JRPG now... come on I haven't read the article yet and just the quote makes me damn sure i'll agree with him.... FF is probably the most over rated JRPG if not RPG oh wait game out there.....

I think you are thinking of oblivion or morrowind. In most Jrpgs that are turnbased or even realtime all of your stats grow at once rather than training something in particular. All you need to do is fight enemies. So I don't see your point.

Sorry I have not played a JRPG before only played the WRPG's. Oh crap there different.

Yep very different. They don't even seem like the same genres.

yeah they are not and you just explain why they are not RPG at the same time lol.... way to distroy a myth....everybody says RPG because you have somehow a turn base sys in some of them and a leveling system which is totaly hectic.... but hell people like to call those things RPG let them do....

People who have opinions different than mine make me angry enough to post threads.

In all seriousness, though, what Final Fantasy game hasn't been 60 hours of tedious Japanese game cliches?

"'Casual games' are something the 'Game Industry' invented to explain away the Wii success instead of actually listening or looking at what Nintendo did. There is no 'casual strategy' from Nintendo. 'Accessible strategy', yes, but ‘casual gamers’ is just the 'Game Industry''s polite way of saying what they feel: 'retarded gamers'."

Sorry, but I don't get what you are saying. Are you saying Jrpgs aren't really rpgs? If so then I agree. But I do have to mention that neither are Wrpgs.

Summary of WRPG vs JRPG (IMO of course):

Which is more of an RPG : WRPG>>>>>>>>>>>JRPG
Story: JRPG's are usually better than WRPG's.
Characters: The stronger characters are usually in JRPG's
Battle systems: based on preference. I prefer turn based JRPG systems.

Actually in truth it's something like:

RPG mechanics: WRPG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JRPG
Story: WRPG >>>>>>>>>>>> JRPG
Characters: WRPG >>>> JRPG
Battle Systems: WRPG >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> JRPG

Have you ever player Planescape: Torment? It's a WRPG which is lauded to have the greatest story/characters in videogaming history (and rightfully so).

Deus Ex, Fallout 1 & 2, The Witcher, Mask of the Betrayer, Baldur's Gate 2 + Expansion, Lords of the Rings Online have unbelievable stories and characters that no JRPG has ever come close (except maybe FF6, off the top of my head).

that's what i'm saying :) WRPG well they get closer to the concept of the paper RPG or live action RPG... where you actually build your character its background and make choices that built his moral appearance, a game like NWN or Baldur's gate is closer to that after you have the private shards MMO's like Ultima online that are my personal favorite... I don't even bother boosting my skills.... i just roll play.... oh my that was a while ago though... I don't have time for that anymore anyway
