Forums - Nintendo - PES 2009 for Wii will still launch after everyone else.

This is a big opportunity for EA. Previews for FIFA '09 Wii are already favorable, and with a six month lead, EA can lock up a pretty big platform for their football franchise. They just have to deliver the goods.

This only came about because they decided to make a good Wii version which is completely unique, which meant it took them longer, so that version was delayed into 2008, they cannot make a game in 6 months, so this is the best thing to do, though I would actually go a year without making a wii game and then release simultaneously in 2009

dont agree - put the correct strips, update the player database, add a kit editor and add the championship league thing and there would have been plenty of people (like myself) willing to pay for it.  The defensive and other gameplay changes would have a 12 month window from then.

This will increase sales of the PS2 game, at least in Japan. Many football fans won't put up with waiting for the Wii version. Maybe it will be better this time though, as word of mouth must have spread about this game.

famousringo is absolutely right though. Isn't EA using a similar control scheme to PES08? If they perfect it and make a good game, they have a potential hit on their hands.

Yes, but not everyone would just want that, because certainly with the other versions of PES 08 (the PS3 and PSP ones at the very least) do have defence issues, and obviously there are always gameplay tweaks that need to be added. I just think that they cannot get away with doing just that.

What I really want them to do is get Chelsea licensed, though I heard that they only had Man U and Liverpool from the Premier League

Yeah, it's really weird how EA loses money yet they can get most licenses whereas konami don't get nearly as much.

Bad for Konami = I think they will lose a lot of sales to Fifa 09 on the wii platform
Good for Wii owners = Our next PES won't be rushed.

It won't be as good for sales, but you will at least be getting a decent game. PES 09 for PS360 will probably be decent too, but only because they made all their mistakes in PES 08, seriously messed up versions.

well if they need time to make the game better its ok with me. i know its worth waiting for. PES08 wii was a great game and eventually in my house it was all anyone ever played.

can't wait for the next installment
