@vaio: Oh, the keyword here is, that the extra fan isn't enough, although it may have saved you from getting the RRoD earlier.

Basically, after you turn the console off, the amount of heat that exits the processor is the same as it is on, for some time (seconds, theorecally even minutes) and the cooling is less than when it was on. Now, it already was "close" to melting point even with the (better than) normal cooling and suddenly the cooling went down, but for awhile it still radiated as much heat as it did earlier.
It's just basic physics.

Is the 3 year warantee a WW thing, because I got mine in June in the UK, and it says 1 year in the book supplied

I haven´t used online his gen as I did with the original xbox. You can´t get more hip then just being me ;)

 I haven´t had the time going through the rest of my/our games yet. We are three brothers that have a shared library of games so there are alot of games. Still need to add my PS1&2 games as well as a few more Pc games and my 360 games too. I plan on taking the time sometime soon though.

He didn´t think it was a good idea sending it to them and that it was hard to get them to accept the rrod issue so they would cover the costs.

 So i guess those measly last 2 hours I put in a few days before  was the tipping point then.

with shipping and repair it was almost 200$

About the soldering melting, the moment after you turn off your console is the most critical moment, since processor is hottest in the inside and it cools only from the outside. When you turn the console off, the processor stops generating heat, but since the fan stops too, the cooling also stops and the processor keeps radiating the heat it already generated and reserved into it.

That is what confuses me, the extra fan i got for the 360 is always on as long as the 360 is plugged in but somehow it still RROD even though the fan is on. That´s why I don´t get it how it could RROD.

 

When you said extra fan do you mean one of those Intercoolers? Because I heard that microsoft claims they increase the risk of RROD and if they see marks from where the intercooler was installed they won't replace the console.
