Or maybe this is just PR spin. I wonder what makes more sense: ioi comes up with totally messed up random numbers every week, but somehow get's it right anyway; or company tries to spin its numbers in a more pleasant way? Tough, tough question, I guess we may never find out the answer.....
The title is misleading I thought Sony bought Australia, imagine my shock when they did not. Doh!

Here are two older articles from the end of april / beginning of may. They both give numbers for Wii and PS3 at 80k and 36k at that time. Taking those numbers and then adding the new ones provided by Nintendo and Sony shows Nintendo sold another 20k until last week and PS3 another 14k until recently. Those numbers simply don't support PS3 outselling Wii on a week to week basis.

And what numbers are they making up CKLMB? Vg Chartz says 50,000 Sony Says 50,000. Nintendo says 100,000 VGchartz says 100,000.
if you are referring to trend I don't think GfK cares as long as it is true in some sense(they sell their numbers to companies so the companies can spin it). I would like to see GfK weekly data. However ask yourself CKLMB how come VGchartz is right in line with Sony's and Nintnedo's total when you add the weeklies but the weeklies so far off? By the way this happened twice already Vgchartz was right there with the Aussie 27K figure 10 days after launch(just like sony announced.... |
I'm referring to people accusing Sony of cooking up the numbers which it isn't so we agree on this. I don't see where the disagreement here is...

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!
The most amuzing part of all this is how harvey normal are selling them as blu-ray players. Considering blu-ray playerss at harvey norman are about $850 versus $1000. I don't see the logic in buying a PS3 just for blue ray playback considering it be worst quality then a stand alone blu-ray player.
Another key thing to remember is that PS3 is a first gen blu-ray player. How do we know it will be able to play more then dual layer discs (same with the first gen blu-ray players). The only answer to this is sony will force movie companies to limit their movies to dual layer max (if the PS3 can't play more then dual layer).
Now i know some of you will want to flame me but thats fine.
When i bought my first dvd player the first day it come out it can only play single layer discs and vcds. Talk about waste of cash.
I am hoping they learned from dvd player mistakes and hopefully future proofed the blu-ray players better, otherwise there is gonna be alot of pissed of customer as I was with my dvd player.
Hence I shall be waiting this time around a good 2-3years before I buy a blu-ray player knowing the fact it can play back everything i throw at it that comes on a blu-ray disc.
