Forums - Nintendo - Is it now time to buy Wiis?

Launch year I bought 14 Wiis most which were preordered months in advance in the hope of making a profit at Christmas.

Little did I know before buying them that the 12 I sold would make me more than £2000 profit!!

Second year I missed out as I had no idea Wiis would still be in demand and only got my hands on 2 to sell.

I wonder if the price of Wiis on Ebay this Christmas will be as crazy!?

I think so...

I think Nintendo are going to be much more prepared with supply this year. Wii supply issues in NA are coming under control and they've probably already started to stockpile for the holidays.

They might still sell out, but I think the shortages will come later in the season and be less pronounced.

im gonna say that there will be a higher demand for ds's go buy ds's!

I think supply is going to be much better this year--demand is just as high, if not higher, but I see at least two or three Wiis at every game store I go to now. If they have 360s or PS3s in stock, they seem to have at least a couple of Wiis now.

Pointless.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Yea but it was the same last year in the UK, middle of the year pleny of Wiis, come Christmas, none!

I would say that by doing that, you're hurting both the gaming business and fellow gamers. The former because Wiis sitting at your home aren't causing any software to get sold, and the latter because people can't buy Wiis and then have to pay more than they otherwise would have.

Frankly, I think scalping is a form of parasitism. It's perfectly legal as far as I know, just not very ethical IMO.

I don't think it's worth it in the UK. There are Wiis everywhere, I can't see there being a real shortage. And when you take into account the listing fee, final value fee, paypal fee and postage I don't think many people are going to be willing to pay enough for you to make a profit.

Edit: One thing you could do is buy some of the bundles. Loads of places are selling Wiis along with Wii Fit, games and assorted junk. Wii Fit is still going for £100+ as almost nowhere is selling them on their own at RRP so if you split down bundles you could make some cash.
