It means I can go into a shop and buy games instead of going into a shop and searching in vain for what I want in the minute Gamecube area.

In fact (Back Compat?) it is much easier to find old GC games now than it was before the Wii.

It doesn't mean much, as I only care about the DS and was never interested in the Wii. The only game I want for the Wii is available for the dirt cheap Gamecube - Twilight Princess. I don't care what they do with the Wii, but if they keep releasing crap in the vein of Wii music I'll never get it. I'll be getting a Gamecube soon, I missed out on a few good titles that it has... thank you eBay :)

And to anwser you, c0rd, if the Wii system doesn't have more quality games such as Twilight Princess I won't get it, the Wii is solely a gaming device, unlike the PS3. Therefore - no good games, no system. If they persist with lots of titles like Wii music and don't release any hardcore stuff I'll not get it.

Haha, not much faith in the gaming industry huh? I get what you're saying though, Nintendo has brought the whole industry into its home court, one seemingly nobody can compete with them in - the battle of innovation.

However, it's not as if Nintendo is the only one making hits, as Guitar Hero is a great example of 3rd parties being able to come out with their own thing. Time will tell if we can expect anything from them.

From what I can see, time has already told, and the answer is no: Immediately after the Wii had wrested the lead from the 360 in North America, Ubisoft announced the next Prince of Persia game for the 360 and the PS3, EA Games heaped the shovelware onto the Wii at E3, and there are still devs talking about gaming in term of "both" systems (i.e. the PS3 and the 360).  If they were going to change course, they would have done so when the writing was on the wall more than a year ago, and we would start to see the results of that now.  Sadly, we see nothing indicating that third parties at large see the Wii as anything more than a second-class citizen.  Of course, I'm still hoping to be proven wrong come Christmas 2008.

You don't think it won't come later on, even?  I mean, the Wii is on track to surpass the PS2, it'd be really bizarre for a console with such massive success to be loaded with nothing but mediocre 3rd party games, then Nintendo games.  I'm positive the games will come, it's just really disturbing how long it has taken the 3rd parties.

 

 

Agreed, Wii Sales are on track to surpass PS2. It would be bizarre if "this level" of success was to continue without a few blockbusters from 3rd parties. From Zack n Wiki, No More Hero's and Guitar Hero III I think 3rd parties are getting closer but we need to remember Wii has only JUST started its life cycle,

God of War was (in my opinion) the best game on PS2 but it came very late in the ps2 lifespan.........

It's only a matter of time before the big guys get it right on Wii.

 The Playstation 3 sucks. It has no good games, they're all going to the clearly superior Xbox 360.

insulting my taste would not change my mind on i strongly diagree in the way nintendo have taken this generation.

as far i loved nintendo in the past, i am not buying wii sports resort.
