Forums - Microsoft - Did any sense of "patriotism" play a role in you buying an Xbox 360?

As we all know the Xbox sells very well all but exclusively in America and while that is largely attributable to a video game library catering to American tastes I'm curious if a sense of "patriotism" played any role in anyones decision when choosing the original Xbox or Xbox 360 over rival consoles?

La Li Lu Le Lo... La Li Lu Le Lo... La Li Lu Le Lo... La Li Lu Le Lo...

The Patriots control the media and regulate the significance of information through the 360. All the FPSs on the 360 are training gamers to be the next Snake.

Damn.. No one would admit that just like "if you had autism."

No, I bought it for the games that I wanted to play.

I am American and I would not buy an Xbox or any other Microsoft made hardware. Maybe a mouse or keyboard, but nothing else.

I'll be willing to bet you have Windows.

how much? :)

OT: Is it more patriotic for the Japanese to choose Nintendo over Sony?

I am a Gamer... I play games and not consoles. I have a PC and Console on which I game... I like games. End of Story!

Actually no. I just got because it was the first one out and I couldn't wait.

Pixel Art can be fun.

If given a comparable option, I will often go for an American product over a foreign product. In videogame consoles, it doesn't matter though... There's really no such thing as a "comparable product". It's all about the exclusives and if they cater to my tastes or not.

Other examples would be that yes, I drive an American car (comparable product and price vs. foreign makes) but I ride an Italian motorcycle (no comparable American product available).

Or check out my new webcomic: http://selfcentent.com/

parrots made me do it... oh wait that wasnt the question... um no. it had the games i wanted, was available (bought mine before ps3 came out). honestly dead rising was one of the games that made it for me, halo 3 eventualy though i play most other games far more often, and the control'

the control was a biggie the 360 one now is a little small but laid out very well, i was a bigg fan of th eduke controler fit my hands perfectly i could use it one handed the s type was small like the ps control, i can use them, but they hurt my hands and i had to take breaks if i used them.

and honestly reading this thread i think it hurts 360 sales that its made by micrsoft and not by samsung or some other player, people seem to really hate MS.... I am an apple head, powerpc to the end, i have 3 mac here around me while i type, but i do not go out of my way to avoid ms that would be retarded, they make good gaming platforms, from the windows (wich is all i use mine  for) to the 360. my macs are for work. pc for play.

also i do drive an american car, but mainly because i got a better price on a better car than the other cars i was looking at,  malibu 08. i honestly had not considered it until i drove it... fell in love with it after that

American consumers in most cases bare no care for patriotism. If this was the case our GDP would be much stronger than it is. We're a very open minded market (possibly the most open minded in the world) and focus ONLY on what interests us individually. Buying a 360 for me had nothing to do with patriotism. I had a PS2 before. I focus only on the console that shows the most promise in landing larger libraries and interesting games. Im getting a PS3, but right now it's still not interesting me as much as the 360. The only games that I want on the PS3 is Tekken, MGS4 and Infamous. Americans don't exactly consider American made products to be things of value once they move up in the world, either it's Japanese or European made from there. American good represent grass roots humble vehicles, much like the Japanese...just they do it better. We owe no one loyalty over here. The 360's price is more appealing, the library is very appealing and the online experience is extremely appealing. Those are just my two cents.

I would love to see you explain the bolded part given that it has no basis of truth and doesn't make any sense.

Debating with fanboys, its not
all that dissimilar to banging ones
head against a wall

i live in england, so no, the main reason for my buying a 360 was the fact that it was the only 7th gen console on sale at the time
