Forums - Sony - Square Enix prefers MS over Sony?

All companies are out to make a profit. SquEnix are no different.

If SE are really having issues with the PS3 (as said above about Star Ocean 4), then make games for the more profitable Wii. Seems a lot of other developers aren't having issues developing for the PS3, what makes SquEnix less capable then other developers releasing games for the PS3 on a regular basis? Are they worse developers? Do they not have the resorces?

Hmm, pie.

Why does it make it ok to be betrayed by a company as long as that company had a good reason? I mean, does saying Microsoft had to pay, make it feel like Square-Enix is really on your side, but they're just grifting the MS fans while they're at it?

Doesn't matter if MS paid for games, or if they didn't. If Square could make one extra dollar by porting a Sony game to the 360, they would. Development cost for HD consoles is high, and companies making core games across the industry are in dire straights. Money is all that matters, if it's profit from 360 consumers, lump sums from Microsoft, or Playstation cash.

I mean it's fine to speculate on motives here, but I'm talking about a broader talking point of PS3 fans claiming "oh MS just paid for it' which means Sony didn't!

So, that either means MS cares more about their fans, or MS is richer. Take your pick. Neither one of them marginalize Microsoft or Square-Enixs decision, so explain to me why it is better for Microsoft to have paid SE for the exclusives, than if they got them for free, from a Playstation 3 fans point of view.

It's not as much a matter of Square Enix and PS3 as 360 VS PS3. If PS3 owners know that the reason they are getting the raw end of the deal is because MS payed for it, as oppose to PS3's poor performance, it is a lot easier to deal with.

I completely understand that. Thank you for the truthful response.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

They love the DS.. married the PS.. and are shagging around with the 360...

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

it's true they love money , it's the reason they are making games
expect the same things happen over and over as long as MS can pay money and SONY can't ,
SONY are losing money , they can just keep the game multi
if things change and SONY start making huge profits then we can see more 3rd party exclusive games ,
after 2 years maybe :)

of course, every1 loves money. i would love for some1 to give me millios or billions of dollars.

I love to quote this...

"Is Japanese giant square enix serving it's fans or merely stuck in the past?"

LOL... Nice fan service by touting the opposite.

Well if it is money then who wouldnt prefer it.

No, they don't prefer MS over Sony.

They prefer money over everything.

I agreed with everything else but that line. SE have a very limited amount of resource, so they won't spend $20 million just to make $1, or even $500,000. Its would be a waste of time and money. Its all about the ROI, SE thinks that the PS3's userbase isn't high enough to give them a high enough return and they'll keep games on the 360 till they see a PS3 port to be worth it.
