Forums - Sony - ps3 shortage

None in the Bay Area.

Around the Network

I don't know if there are some in my area... haven't gone out yet

According to Bestbuy online, there are only 40gb systems available online. No in store pick up for either system in the Hudson Valley, NY area. Circuitcity is completely out of 40gb online and in store. They do have 80gb available online. Amazon has both systems. Definitely a shortage.

My Top 5:

Shadow of the Colossus, Metal Gear Solid 3, Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Chrono Trigger

My 2 nex-gen systems: PS3 and Wii

Prediction Aug '08: We see the PSP2 released fall '09. Graphically, it's basically the same as the current system. UMD drive ditched and replaced by 4-8gb on board flash memory. Other upgrades: 2nd analog nub, touchscreen, blutooth, motion sensor. Design: Flip-style or slider. Size: Think Iphone. Cost: $199. Will be profitable on day 1.

The only PS3 shortages that exist are the ones with BC.

:/

months with only 40gb in the market, never gone as low as now. How is that possible?

And no, 80GB was what I was talking about, we haven't had a shipment of 40 in a month, but the store still has a few left.

Gamestop.com is out of 40gb systems, but does have 80gb MGS bundles.  Also, according to the site, none of my local stores have 40gb, but some have 80gb. Weird, huh?

It seems that 40gb is out of stock on Videogamesplus.Ca, but 80gb bundle instead in stock (Might buy it!)

In Sweden there is still some big stores that have 40gb. But i wonder for how long time?

hmmm....seems no one watched E3. Sony made it clear that they would be replacing the 40gig model with an 80gig, making the new toned down, no bc 80gig model the only ps3 available. Plus the fact that the new 80gig ps3 will be retailing at the same price as the 40gig would mean that Sony will most definitely dry up the market of the 40gig models to give way for the 80gig.

ya went on last night and 5-6 sites were out of the 40 gig bundle walmart bestbuy toysrus just to name a few. the 80 gig is availible. isn the 40 gig being replaced with a 60 gig???????

I got an email from work saying it's from Sony's end they haven't shipped out their supply, should be going out today however.
