I like the fact that fewer people have mics. I will turn my mic on if people are communicating about the game, but 90% of the time the voice chat is worthless.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

360 blades are slower then the in-game XMB? Marketplace is unorganized? You have go to be kidding me. From what I have seen, live has way more demos, dlc, movies, wya better voice chat (for PS3 you have to have the best bluetooth headset or else it will echo), how many PS3 games have "trophies"? and how many games have in-game music support?
also, PSN has slow ass downloads, and wheres Playstation Home?

Um... Okay? If you're paying over $100/year for XBL, I have some ocean front property in Arizona for sale...

OT: I don't own a 360 so I really can't help you much. I can;t remember where, but I asked the same thing a while ago and actually managed to get some specific answers. I'll see if I can find the thread....

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

Isnt this what he asked not to do... Can you give some reason that its better?
PSN ftw

Being an owner of 3 consoles and a high end PC, I will say this.
Being able to play with your friends for anything more than "free" is utterly ridiculous. Because of the time i split around all the consoles/PC, I don't stay on one system for too long. As a matter of fact, the only game i plan to play online for the 360 happens to be Gears2. So in retrospect, Id be paying a years worth of "online gaming" for one game, one game that I plan to be done with within a months time. All the content (which is available FREE on PC), in game voice chat, and other options, is ok and makes sense to have to pay for. But charging people to play with each other is down right stupid, I'd rather have an option that made it impossible to talk via XBL but still allowed me to play co-op or multiplayer than be forced to pay for something so basic.
xbox live for me is great because
I can see when my friends are online.
I can see what they have done in their games and who their friends are to find myself more friends.
I can chat to them even if we are playing different games.
Xbox live has a ton of content.
Most people have a mic
I got the msn chatpad which is also quite handy.
I'm not saying PSN is worse but i just love Xbox live.
Ever since the XMB bar became available in game PSN has rushed ahead of XBL on so many counts. You can find friends and send messages easily and quickly from in game. You don't have to pay. You can swap games quickly from inside other games (talking about PSN downloadable games), no needing to quit to the dashboard. You can access a ton of XMB functions including pairing bluetooth devices and other settings from inside the game, which helps a ton. You can quickly and easily see what your friends are doing from inside games (it takes about 10 seconds). Add in trophies and Home soon, and PSN is vastly superior for no cost!
I can't think of a single advantage Xbox live has over more people on sometimes. For the record though I have never once had more then a 5 second delay when looking for a Call of Duty 4 match or a Resistance match.
Oh and the PSN games are VASTLY superior to the Xbox live games. I have bought at least 8 PSN games so far and loved all of them. Looking at geometry wars compared with PSN games (supposedly the best XBL game) is like looking at atari games and comparing them to the PS1.
Far more PSN users will have mics when Socom comes out and includes one.
PSN ID: ChosenOne feel free to add me

Funny to think he's the sites PR guy. Then he goes into a "Who cares if XBL is better then PSN PC Is better then all! Fallback he likes to do when he loses an arguement. Basically 360 still has features PSN doesn't despite the new update... more people in the US have it, so you are more likely to be able to play with your friends and it sells more software... so more people overall are likely to be online for multi-plat games. Which while not as important right away, is going to matter later on. Also... Achivements are still better then Trophies. |
LOL! Nice add in. I do think acheievements are cool, but the RPG level system that PSN is better, IMO.

Oh wow, that was a better update than I had thought it was. So this update gave all of my friends that don't have a PS3 a PS3 so that I can play online with them now. That is pretty sweet.

What an ignorant statement. You're basing the entirety of the XBLA lineup on the fact that Geometry Wars reminds you of an Atari game? How about Assault Heroes, Aces of the Galaxy, Ikaruga, Soulcalibur, Rez HD, Doom, TMNT the Arcade Game, Mutant Storm, Schizoid, Penny Arcade Adventures, N+, Prince of Persia Classic, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, etc. Oh and Braid, Castle Crashers, Banjo-Kazooie, Vigilante 8 Arcade, and the new XNA development games coming out this Fall, amongst plenty of others?
What games are so great on PSN that there aren't equivalent offerings on XBLA? Shooters like Super Stardust HD and Everyday Shooter? Got 'em. Fighting games like Tekken 5? Got 'em. Sports games? Puzzle games? Board games? Quirky cross genre mashups? They're all on Live too.
Not to mention that Sony doesn't take their Playstation original games section seriously. Where are all the games people actually want to play? Xbox Originals just came out at the end of last year and there's already over 20 titles, almost all of which were games that fans wanted to own. Not garbage like Jumping Flash and Destruction Derby. You would think Sony would have a quarter of the PSOne lineup in the store by now or at least keep pace with even one of the consoles offered on the Virtual Console or Xbox Originals.
Regarding the main topic itself, I haven't played enough on PSN to make an informed decision, but overall I liked it.
