Let's hope it's a good game with a solid effort behind it, then we can all lift our boycotts and be happy again.

ubisoft knew about the new technology before e3 if i remember correctly. They were asked a question and rs2 was mentioned to which they replied something like "we know about nintendo's future plans for the wii". does anyone know where i could find the interview where they said that?
nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.
note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)
Despite it's shortcomings I like Red Steel and this just became a must-have for me and I'm sure a lot of other people. Great news!
What's a wi? lol
But OT: I just can't wait for Red Steel 2 after Red Steel 1 was so good

lol. They have Prince of Persia, Beyond Good and Evil 2, I Am Alive and Far Cry 2 coming and THIS of all things is what you're excited about? :P
Red Steel was garbage, but I liked the concept and the setting. If done right it, this could be awesome.

This was pretty obvious - but also means the game *probably* won't hit until Xmas (or mid-late) 2009 :(
With a THREE year development cycle, it has better be a really, REALLY good game.

Yes they most certainly did.. They alluded to the user interface in particular so I'm sure Ubisoft knew about Wii MotionPlus a while before it was officially announced..
I'm also actually looking forward to this game now I'm sure Ubisoft will fix most of the gripes we all had with the first one but I'm just hoping that they really try to innovate further with Red Steel 2.. Give us more multiplayer levels, give us online multiplayer, wiispeak support and fix those awful bloody cutscenes.. But Ubisoft I want innovation! Give us a damn good game, show everyone what a Wii game really can be and you'll see the sales!
I'm really looking more forward to The Conduit and really who wouldn't be? I think next year will be the year of the Wii in a big way..
I liked Red Steel because I don't base my life on what reviewers say. Okay, now that I got that out of the way, I am very excited for this. Can you say online swordfighting? How many people will boycott that?

After Red Steel 1, they have nowhere to go but up. All the small things added up and detracted from the game.

I enjoyed it as well. It had it's rough areas, but plenty of enjoyable parts as well. Red Steel obviously was rushed out the door, and I doubt that was all Ubisoft's doing. I always got the impression that Red Steel was the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron II-type launch game for the Wii. Nintendo had asked Factor 5 to have the game ready for the GameCube's launch, and that's exactly what I think happened with Ubisoft and Red Steel. |
The difference being Rogue Squadron II fully delivered with great gameplay and cutting edge visuals that were the best on any console at the time, second only to Halo on Xbox perhaps, not to mention that Factor 5 had been working on the game since the first one came out on the N64 which was 3 years prior.
Red Steel ended up being a huge dissapointment, and is probably the reason most FPS shooters have sucked on the Wii. It wasnt until Prime 3 came out and later Heroes 2 that developers started taking the FPS genre seriously on Wii (see The Conduit and CoD: World at War).

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.
