I'll say these are the must own DS games:

Elite Beat Agents
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
The World Ends With You
Final Fantasy IV
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow

I would add that a nice niche game to play is Hotel Dusk.

I would suggest you skip Final Fantasy III.

Those are my suggestions in a nutshell. Might wanna check through the first party games. NSMB in particular is quite nice.

There are about a billion games that fall just under the "Epic" and above the "Good" that I can't name here. If you like my taste in games, then PM me, now or later, and I'll give you a great list of games to check out.

I'm not trying to troll but, I was once interested in a DS and there were things I didn't know about it that I wish I would of known.  But here is my Nintendo DS experience.

On a (slightly) more serious note, it's posts like this, where someone is receiving lots of constructive input from the community, that ruin topics like this. If you want to prostelytize the PSP, start your own thread and regale everyone with the tale of how the PSP swooped in to save you from the brutish, touchscreen-wielding DS before it had its way with you in manners unspeakable--like how it viciously inserted its stylus into places other than its holder.

This cannot be emphasized enough. It's the reason I've refined my stance from "the early Final Fantasys are good" to "the SNES (and IX) Final Fantasys are good." Avoid III like the plague.

1.I recommend FF3,4 DQ 4,5,6 and XI when it comes out. Pokemon and digimon are also good rpgs. If you can read japanese there are even more rpgs to chose from. Also get the games that are recommended here as they are really good and unique.

2.Saves on cart

3.Lite is lighter better design and brighter

The Ds lite is a design from God when compared to the DS phat. I mean, it's almost like Nintendo was just screwing around the first time, and when the DS took off, made a better one.

Only problem might be the smaller d-pad.

For games, you should be fine with either The World Ends With You, or Final Fantasy Tactics A2. Both games are quite a bit of re-playability. Mario and Luigi is good to.

Never play FFIII .... looks like this has already been mentioned. Good.

The only thing you have to consider is the colour. May I suggest this.

Geez.  You're acting like if the DS not being for me hurt your feelings?  If anyone is pushing a consoles fortunes around on a messageboard is, it might be you.  What is constructive input?  Only pro comments?

Constructive input can be pro or anti.  That comment you made about constructive input sounds like something a dictator would come up with as a charge or someone with differing political views.  You don't agree with me so you comments aren't constructive?

I gave a valid, honest, first person, critique of the DS which was in every way constructive.  You comments are about prosstelytizing the PSP and about the PSP having flagging fortunes are in very way unconstructive and lurid bashing.

I was only giving a different persective.  When I buy a product I'm very interested in hearing negative stuff that might help me make my decision.

lol, btw, by looking at your avatar, I'd imagine you liked FFXII.

So, you might look into FFXII: Reverant Wings, which finishes the story of FFXII.

Dunno why I didn't mention that, lol.

I would run to plague away from FFIII. IV is amazing, and great. III is like IV except worse in every possible way by a significant amount, and absolutely boring. I hated it, honestly. IV is fantastic though.

I really really want a PSP, right?

The problem is I dropped my DS 5 times, today alone.

I wish that I wasn't a butter fingers. But it's fine.

The only games I'm really missed on PSP were Megaman Power-up and FFVII:CC

There so many games on DS, the game just don't stop coming.

 

This is only a small list of games that I have owned or played a lot and reccommend and can thiink of right now.

  • NSMB
  • FFIII(seems like others don't agree) and FFIV(definitely)
  • FFCC:RoF
  • Zelda:Phantom Hourglass
  • The World Ends With You
  • Elite Beat Agents
  • Advanced Wars
  • Castlevania games
  • Contra 4


I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
