Bear in mind that some of those guests are already members--if you aren't logged into the site 24/7 you will also show up as a guest until you do so.

Most users are scared of registration, i once lurked on a music forum and tried to join only to find they wanted your real first and last name and i just didn't feel like putting a fake one, so i didn't join.

Plus, some people don't want to give their e-mail to join a site, cuz they are afraid of spam, in fact i maintain 1 regular private email, and one for things like myspace and facebook which just fill your box with spam.

Kickin' Those Games Old School.       -       201 Beaten Games And Counting

Maybe they don't want to hear "Congratulations you have been selected to recieve a free Nintendo Wii/iPod" voice ad every other time they click on the forum. If one of my friends didn't post here I wouldn't have signed up for that reason alone. Those ads are SUPER annoying and I bet that they cost a website more money in deterred visitors than they make.

I give this thread a 9.5.

Thank god for the disable signatures option.

Most websites are like this, even more-so in many cases because ioi has given an incentive (sign up and you get top 200 charts instesd of top 50)

Well, I wouldn't say that it's much of an incentive, as to the majority of members the top 50 is the most interesting, the top 200 is only really important if you're tracking a certain game, or whathaveya.

I intimidate them. It's my charm and my curse.

Hand them a 'Lips' microphone. It should take their shyness away.

O no, you did not just shamefully promote Microsofts response to Singstar.
