Forums - Gaming Discussion - Lets agree on standardised pricing and feature sets for PS3/360 comparisons

Heres my thoughts - U.S Pricing only. If we want to get some standardised prices/features for those inevitable (Should I buy a PS3 or Xbox360) questions and for talking about people on the street. The average less informed consumers. (edited for much better clarity)

Tease.

Around the Network

Why does Mr Smite need a HDMI cable with his 360? :)

edit: nevermind, thought you were using elite as an example... :P

He has an HDTV

Tease.

Of course, but component is hd-capable too. :D

Well, Qore shouldn't be counted at all. PS3 having free online is a luxury, you shouldn't add optional DLC to try and offset this luxury that the 360 doesn't have.

Around the Network

Where is Mr Smite's modem/router/DSL/ADSL line? Becuase I know few people who have it right next to their console and HDTV. (if any). Most modern households have wireless.

Hmm, pie.

I think you could reformat it so it's easier to read.

Good comparison.

I think you should add a wireless example.
For me, the only thing that is holding me back from rebuying 360 over PS3 right now is the wifi.

I don't play online, but I like DLC.

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.

I think adding in the European prices might be of interest.

So, here we go:

Xbox 360 Arcade: €199
Xbox 360 Pro: €269
Xbox 360 Elite: €369
Xbox 360 Controller: €44,99
Xbox 360 HDMI: €49,00 (This is the official MS one)
Xbox 360 Wireless: €74,00
Xbox 360 Live: €50

PS3: €399
PS3 Controller: €49,99-59,99
PS3 HDMI: €29,99 (This is the official Sony one)
Qore is not available in european markets.

Cheapo HDMI: €19,99 in stores, less online.

Joe Schmoe total:
Xbox 360: €293
PS3: €479

Mr Smite total:
Xbox 360: €339 + €50 over 4 years = €539
PS3: €419 + €0 = €419

Note that anyone wanting to use wireless internet with the Xbox 360 will add €74,99 to this.

why do you include a subscription to a ( video based) gaming magazine with the ps3's total?

And why would anyone buy an $80 dollar cable when the $10-20 cable is the exact same?

What the hell is Qore? Why would a smart consumer want it?

I would cite regulation, but I know you will simply ignore it.
