Because ithas the best and only RPGs this gen.

First point is arguable, second point is just not true.

I just went through the entire PS3 catalog looking for a good RPG to hold me until Tales of Vesperia, and found none. NDS has some great ones, and Wii is short of any good ones.

Pray explain?

First point implies that it already has the best RPGs on the market. What does the 360 really have on the RPG front so far? If we're talking about Japanese RPGs, it has three RPGs that could be considered above average, and the rest aren't worth mentioning. The DS has a larger and far superior Japanese RPG lineup. Not that there's anything wrong with that, the DS is the second highest selling console ever in Japan and has been out for 4 years.

As for the Wii and PS3, what can you expect? Unlike Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony weren't desperately buying off Japanese games to gain trace amounts of marketshare. The Wii has the highest Japanese userbase, and will have the best RPG lineup by the end of this generation, without a doubt. As for Sony, they seem to have completely lost interesting in the eastern market, so there's not much we can expect there.

You could argue all day about which console has the best lineup of Japanese RPGs, but ultimately, the DS and PSP have greater amounts than the 360 so your second point is moot.

The 20GB model did not get a price cut here in Japan. I know because Im looking at getting one. I don't know which one to purchase. They won't get a price cut for a while, as the Tales of Vesperia pack is comming soon, but only includes a 20 gig disk.

Don't forget that a lot of expatriates are living in Japan as well. People like me who are purchasing consoles as well.

Very true. I should have been much more specific.

It has the best JRPG lineup for a HOME CONSOLE SYSTEM. I hope the Wii has KH3. Other then that, I doubt it will have the strongest JRPG lineup. They already won the East, they don't seem to feel the need to milk it.

P.S. DS has great RPGs, but PSP? It has FFCC.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

I still think it is funny that MS has bought an entire library full of Japanese type games and the 360 still has awful sales. I think looking back at this gen many people will agree that MS should have focus more on locking up their homeland, then Europe instead of firing empty round into Japan...

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Xbox 360 has a steady stream of games that each help it a bit in Japan:

Soul Calibur 4 (July 31) - Game should do ~30k at least ltd (360 hw 6k this week?)

Tales (August 8) - Game could do 60-85k week one (360 hw 8k-13k this week?)

Clannad (Aug 28) - Not sure...20k-30k maybe? Have to check on the hype (360 hw 5k this week?)

Musou Orochi (Sept 4) - 40k maybe (360 hw 8k this week?)

Infinite Undiscovery (Sept 11) - Blue Dragon Numbers (85k?) week one with better legs I think (360 hw 25k-45k?)

The Last Remnant (Nov 20) - 100k-130k week one maybe (360 hw 20k-40k)

Resident Evil 5 (March 12) - 45k week one? (360 hw 4-8k?)

I'm not expecting any of the boosts to be long lasting, but the baseline sales for 360 could certaintly stay above 5k for alot of the fall which is decent considering 360 sales were down to 1200ish earlier in the year.

Shadowblind: Fair enough about the home consoles. But to say that the PSP doesn't have good RPGs is simply a lack of information on your part. And even if you discount the RPGs on the PSP, it still has a greater amount than the 360.

Whoa, and those abyssmall PS3 sales ( 11,000 ) are making me cry. but yeah weekly sales for the 360 in japan were a mere 2,000, but now it doubled. I wonder if the 20 GB price cut hit over there as well, anyone knows? But like i read above, maybe it's because of all these RPGS going over to the xbox? If this keeps up, will 360 finally get some recognition over there? Though some of those Japanese owners are gonna be pissed to find a power brick taking up alot of space

They aren't pissed when their anime collections fill to the ceilings.  I guess they are just appling tech selectiveness to feng shui.

I know I specifically loved Tales of the World, and I'm a huge RPG fan. FFCC was a great game too, but I've only been able to find a handful of good RPGs on the system. I would be interested to know what other RPGs there are worth noting, since most of the other RPGs I've tried on the system were pretty bad.

The answer is very simple. The Japanese are beginning to realize that Bush's term is ended pretty soon, and Obama will most likely become President.

You will see that the 360 will gradually increase in Japan over the next few months, until in January when Obama is inaggurated, that the sales of the Xbox360 will be averaging 100,000 units per week.
