I believe that Sony are pretending Nintendo do not exist and considering the games the Wii is getting, I can understand this line of thought.

Sony doesn't care about the Wii, its doing just fine vs the Wii with its old system (look at the continued strong PS2 sales to casuals) and will do just fine vs the Wii 2 with the PS3 in 5 years. What matters is either Sony or MS exiting stage left so one can be the HD console and stop splitting sales. If there was only one HD console there wouldn't be this "which will sell better, Mario Kart or one of the two console versions of GTA4?" bit. GTA4 would be ahead hands down (just like GTA3, SA and VC) because there would only be one platform with all the HD sales. As a bonus the games would be better because there wouldn't be the porting problems that degrades the quality.

 

I still don't get what the draw of the 360 is anyway...who was feeling disappointed with the games in the PS2 and late PS1 generations? Does anyone really like having to buy multiple consoles and sets of accessories to play all the good games? Who would be worse off if the PS4 and Wii 2 were the only consoles next generation? Even Microsoft would be losing less money and be better off in that scenario.

Probably because it came out a year earlier, so you could "play the next gen... now!" or something.

And then PS3 came out with its LOL price tag and no games.

Fortunately for Sony, they're recovering nicely. But personally, I hope Microsoft stays in the fight. Both Sony and MS have shown a tendency toward such hubris that if they didn't have each other to contend with, I fear it would not be pretty for us HD gamers.

i agree i hope 360 stays along for the fight, as competition brings out better things for gamers.

your correct, i recently went to my local asda to pick up a wii game when i was shopping. il list the games that i saw on the shelfs that interested me.

  • galaxy
  • mario kart
  • metroid
  • paper mario

and thats it, i swear(you can go check yourself) all the rest were mini games of some sort, or childish games like hannah montana, or my cats, or even more laughable "me and my horse"

there was also multiplats there, but the ps360 renditions of those multiplats are towering above the wii versions.

Wow, you just don't miss a beat do you? Well, just remember, PS360 can't handle Boom Blox, and Boom Blox is, without a doubt, far more "next gen" then any other game out there right now. That's a fact. Been proven by scientists in lab coats and goggles. BIG goggles. They had government grants and interns and everything. :)
