The 360 is selling to the exact same people in the exact same pattern across the world as the first Xbox.

Xbox worldwide sales rate = 24 million/44 months = 0.55 million a month average

Xbox 360 worldwide sales rate = 19.5 million/33 months = 0.59 million a month average

Just like the Xbox, the 360 is:

Dead in Japan
Pretty much dead in Europe outside of the UK
The rest of its sales coming from US and the UK

Nothing happened other than the same people who bought the first Xbox are buying the Xbox 360 and the same people who didn't care about the first Xbox are not caring about the 360.

Im pretty sure that everyone on this sight, whether they hate MS or not, can agree that the 360 is doing much better than the original xbox.

Blu-Ray is ftw xD

  • 2010 MUST Haves: WKC, Heavy Rain, GoWIII, Fable III, Mass Effect 2, Bayonetta, Darksiders, FFXIII, Alan Wake, No More Heroes 2, Fragile Dreams: FRotM, Trinity: SoZ, BFBC2.
  • Older Need To Buys: Super Mario Bros. Wii, Mario Kart Wii, Deadspace, Demon's Souls, Uncharted 2.

There is definitely more to list that I want, but that's my main focus there.

ps3 is a far better gaming deal than 360. - How so? I can pick up cheap Xbox games for my 360 NOW if I am not happy with the current lineup. Plus, with Halo 3, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Test Drive Unlimited, Splinter Cell, Blue Dragon, Lost Odessey, Eternal Sonata, Ace Combat 6, Forza 2, PGR3, Call of Duty 2, tons of arcade games and soooo much more stuff, you don't have to wait for good games - they are already here. The people that market the PS3 call it the cheapest Blu Ray player on the market. They are touting it as a Blu Ray player! Sony isn't very focused on gaming - it's there, but not like the PS2 was.

ps3 has far better games upcoming which will i beieleve make the consumer choose ps3 over 360 -
hmmm, let's see: FF13, on both consoles, Gears 2, Fable 2, Fallout3 with DLC ... and a big backlog of Xbox titles, and platinum 360 games. If you have money to burn, sure grab a PS3. However, the *better* games argument is open to debate seeming most of the upcoming games for the PS3 are a ways off or delayed. I would rather play good games now than have to wait for them.

If we go by this sites Worldwide "chartz"...

Xbox360 attach rate - 6.83
PS3 attach rate - 4.44

And this is despite having a larger userbase (bigger userbase < attach rate) and baing easily piratable (I could mod my xbox 360 if I wanted to used a screwdriver and USB key).

In any case, I may have come off a little harsh so I apologize. I will most likely buy a ps3 in a year or so. Christmas 2009 will surely be very interesting to see if xbox 360 can still duke it out with the ps3 considering most of the big ps3 titles are coming out next year.

that attach rate, is microsoft spin.

360 has nearly 2 times the launch advantage which tells on the attach rate. if you project the ps3 in the same fashion the 360 attach rate doesnt look all that good.

i think some user commented on his ps3 internet performance. mine works perfectly with a virgin media 2meg connection, i use it wirelessly and all my games work fine online.

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

You need to explain this as it doens't make any sense. Attach rate means... Games bought with console by user that owns console...

You can't spinn that. those numbers are off this site too, not some microsoft forum.

Sony's announced EVERY SINGLE game coming out within the NEXT 2 YEARS!!

 u mean next 4 years ... example: Killzone 2

killzone 2 is out feb-2009.

which ever way ppl want to spin it, you cant deny that for the price sonys console is better value for mony than microsofts console

The ps3 is better value if you care about marketing material specs, as far as gaming value is concerned there's just no competition. Here in Europe an arcade costs half of what a ps3 costs - and it plays all 360 games (ok, except FF11 and some weirdo football manager game).

Current-gen game collection uploaded on the profile, full of win and good games; also most of my PC games. Lucasfilm Games/LucasArts 1982-2008 (Requiescat In Pace).

Not to mention the software totals are incomplete as stated on the chart. If I remember correctly the software is undertracked on the 360 but it doesn't really matter. The attach rate doesn't generally get alot higher with more consoles, it can but not very often. With that I don't see the PS3 touching the 6.0 software attach rate but nothing is impossible.
