Forums - Sales - Which FFXIII will move more units?

I think that a decent amount of those who would buy it on PS3 already have a PS3.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Sigh, why is it every time someone makes this thread everyone forgets that this game isn't coming out in the west for potentially 2 years?

The PS3 will have a sizable lead over the 360 in others by then, and it will be a lot closer to the 360 in America. All this combined with the fact that the PS3 version is exclusive in Japan, there is really no way you can say the 360 version will win.

Good point sc94597, as a one-machine-per-gen kind of guy it didn't occur to me that people with both machines will probably go majority PS3 on this one. That does seem like it would surely be enough to seal the deal.

Games machines owned: C64*, NES, SNES*, PS1, PS2*, PS3* (*still own).

You ought to clarify the question (edit: in the title) because my initial thought was between XIII and Versus XIII, which will. without a doubt, swing in XIII's favor due to its multiplat status. If Versus also turns out to be multiplat then its anyone's game.

As for which platform will sell more copies of XIII it will be the PS3 without contest due to the strength of the name on Playstation consoles, and the fact that it's still Japan-exclusive on PS3.

1. you cant edit the title
2. the op explains it all

I think it will sell better on PS3, because of Japan exclusivity

Worldwide, the numbers will be close. The 360 has a huge advantage outside of Japan, but there will be no Japanese 360 release at all, and that may be enough to cancel things out.

Hardware-wise, FFXIII will fail to move large numbers of extra units post-release, just as MGS4, Halo 3, GTA4, and other games have. That's just now how HD console sales work.

Did anyone see this adjustment?

Basically I agree with what everyone else has (people bought ps3's for FF, FF is big in Japan).

But also keep in mind that by the time the game actually comes out, the ps3 will be very close to the 360 in total sales, and possibly even ahead of it by that point in time. We're talking late 2009 or 2010 here.

Japan & Europe >>> America

So ps3 will sell more, because once the games release the gap between the 2 consoles will be gone...

By the time the game comes out PS3 will have outsold 360 easy and the game ain't coming to 360 in Japan Ps3 wins easy.

/thread

by the time ff13 lands. ps3 will have a higher install base, and will confortably outsell 360 counterpart

...not much time to post anymore, used to be awesome on here really good fond memories from VGchartz...

PSN: Skeeuk - XBL: SkeeUK - PC: Skeeuk

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...

Playstation 3 version will sell more, especially the true fans that want versus and the other version of FFXIII, would buy a ps3 for it, It won't be an instant 10 million copies though. I predict 4 to 1 sales PS3 to 360, everyone that has a 360 would be having too many Jrpgs to play when it comes out. Also Japan would be pushing FFXIII sales the most, PS3 has a 2 million + home advantage. And anyone thats educated that has both consoles would buy the game on Blu-ray, instead of a port that has many aspects of the game butchered up to compliment multiple discs on the 'box. Well when is this game gonna come out? Who knows. but first it will hit japan, and those that really want the game will have it imported for the playstation 3, because region free games kick ass. Mean the dev team behind the nextbox port will scratch their noggins, pondering on how to break up the game to a minimum of four discs without sacrifing too much.
