Shameless, your user name is oddly fitting.

You should be mad that Dead Rising 2 is being postponed for this. |
Don't be afraid. Dead Rising 2 will arrive, but probably for the Wii.

A person who goes out of his way to harass everyone equally is still a jerk: targeting a specific subgroup just adds racist/sexist/something-ist to the list of charges. Likewise, you can be a troll without being a fanboy. Although I'll agree about everyone needing to calm down. It's Shameless we're talking about here; how often does anything he has to say actually contribute? Let the man keep dumping on a game he hasn't played. It's his right. But it's our right to not bother listening, as I'm about to demonstrate.

Then allow me to retort:
Harassing everyone equally? That's not what I'm trying to do at all, though I believe harassing an individual is a lot more harmful. For example, if I was constantly reminding you that you can't spell 'Sagittarius' or 'student' you'd be more personally offended than when I criticise a game that you didn't know even existed up until last week. At least you should be.
I'm basing my opinion on what actually exists and what Capcom themselves have shown so far, everyone else is basing their opinion on speculation and what's happened to other games. If the screenshots aren't representative of what the final game will turn out like then it's Capcom's fault for showing them and my choice whether I criticise them for doing so.
I'm not asking for this game to be at the level that the 360 version was, I'm asking for it to look better than some random shovelware game and to have more enemies than a Dynasty Warriors game from a previous generation. Nothing I've seen has convinced me that way so far.
Your personal tirade against me is tiresome, if you want to come into a thread and 'choose not to listen', why bother? Unless you secretly love me and my posts and every negative thing you say actually draws us closer together. I'd believe that.
| Shameless said: Frankly it looks like a jaggy, blurry mess. The whole fun of the first game was mowing down hundreds of enemies using strange weapons; this only seems to be able to handle tens of enemies. Look at the background of the above picture, the place is empty. I'm fine with Capcom riding the cashcow wave after the success of Resident Evil 4, but I hope they are still making Dead Rising 2 for an HD console(s) because I sure as hell won't be buying this. |
It is interesting how there have been people rising out of the woodwork on this port to say how bad it is ... even though it has been public less than a week and all that are available are some development screen shots which no one knows (or those who know are not saying) if they are early builds or final products.
One thing that cannot be underestimates is that this port marks a sea change. It is the first HD console game port to the Wii. The previous ports have been from the previous generation of consoles -- PS2 or GC.
Also, I wonder how many of the people complaining about this either (a) own a Wii or (b) already have this game on a HD console and won't buy the port anyway or
don't like the game to begin with.
If anyone things a screen shot of an SD game is going to look as good as a screen shot of an HD game, they are dilusional.
If anyone things that an SD game cannot play just as well as an HD game, they are in denial.

Well I do bealive that there will be more zombies on-screen in the final product ... hell even if it can handle 1/3 of the 360 version its still impressive IMO ...
Vote the Mayor for Mayor!
Only a complete idiot would dismiss a game based on a couple of extremely early screenshots of a title--a game not slated for release for several months.
Also, this idea that the Xbox360 game had "hundreds" of zombies onscreen is gross exaggeration. The number of zombies onscreen at any one time never went higher than double-digits, and even then, I have doubts about how often it exceeded 50--if at all. When you see a bunch of characters moving around onscreen at once and you're running around trying to accomplish something, 20 - 40 zombies in a cramped room can sure feel like a hundred. Only in early promo shots was there ever "hundreds" of zombies visible at once.
Dead Rising was originally an Xbox game after all that got a mild graphical make-over prior to being moved to the Xbox360. They remove that make-over and it'll work quite well on the Wii. It's not like Capcom has failed us on Wii ports of games so far. RE4 and Okami both turned out well.
I'm definitely disappointed. This looks many times worse than the 360 version, and I don't know if it'll be worth it to buy this game when I might get a 360 sometime much later in the future.
I'll wait for more screenshots but I am definitely disappointed.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Sometimes it seems like the moderators are the only rational people on this site. :D
Or irrational given all we have are some crappy scans from a Japanese magazine. Hardly proper context to judge the graphical fidelity of any game, wouldn't you say?
