Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's E3 strategy!

Am I the only one who thinks Nintendo's constant hardware announcements is a defensive. I mean the WiiMotionPlus the WiiBalance Board...etc...etc... Is Nintendo constantly creating new technology to keep the competition on edge. I mean rather then sitting around and waiting for the competition to develope new similiar technology Nintendo is beating them to the punch bringing us new hardware.

I think Nintendo is turning E3 into a hardware showcase to show off new hardware rather then new games. I mean the WiiMotionPlus looks amazing. Is Nintendo using E3 to keep competition at bay I mean by the time Microsoft and Sony develope their own WiiMotes Nintendo's WiiMote will be far more advanced.

I mean Nintendo is instead of waiting till the end of the generation to bring out new technology is instead using each E3 to do so!

Hmm. I think I agree with that.

Hmm?

I'm sorry I didn't catch any of that as insightful as it probably is.

I have two things against this E3 - one is that Nintendo never let it's public know in advance that their purpose at E3 had been redesigned.

Also that after the fact they didn't let the public know just when we can expect an announcement on all of their games coming out in Q3 and Q4.

For now it can only be assumed they have AC, and two Wii games.. I was actually looking forward to Star Fox Adventures 2... =(

... I'll just sit here and wait patiently.

Oh and actually it's much more of an offensive move than defensive - it's just that "The best offensive is a strong defensive." Every time Nintendo slashes away the old values Microsoft and Sony feel it - Microsoft wants to adopt the new values which is their defensive, metaphorically you could say they hope to mitigate the damages with the Wii like direction of their console. The only problem is they are going for it at a western business perspective and that's where they will differ greatly, one will fail because it will push away it's estabilshed values and the other will succeed because it is the established values.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

The point I was making is that Nintendo is using E3 and constant new hardware releases to keep an edge ahead of the competition which is falling further and further behind. Each time Nintendo creates new hardware they create a drive of technology. I mean already a few Balance Board games are coming and with WiiMotionPlus its bound to see tons of new games adapted for that too.

They are keeping steady advancements to avoid allowing the competition any foot hold. No time to catch up!

Historically only 50% of new Nintendo do-dads stick.

Way i see it i dont think Nintendo are reliant on new tech to sell the Wii. People want it and dont care either way

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

No becuase Nintendo did this last generation. DK Bongos, E-Reader, Gamecube connector. They had a lot of periferals. Now these periferals are more in tune to the games.

Your right but Nintendo themselves didn't develope the bongo's and didn't usually release new periferals constantly. They used to announce a new one every year or two. Now they are announcing 2- or more a year, It's obvious Nintendo has always had a role of developing new periferals.

WiiMotionPlus and WiiSpeak are bound to hit Microsoft and Sony hard. As Nintendo pushes the envelope with conferance style mic and more motion detection its pushing Microsoft and Sony. I mean every time Nintendo pattents new technology the competition has one less peice of hardware they can rip off.
