^i think this is publised by sony so i dont think it will go multi-plat

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

Christ, how many of you people actually read the article?
It says that only a few people with a proven trackrecord of good maps will be given the option to charge for levels they make.
So it is by far not as bad as it may seem to everyone, in fact, this should only keep all the people who have the skills to make awesome maps come back, and I would be willing to pay for great content. Besides, I think most people realize that they can't sell a map for a lot, but if you make a level available for 50 cent, and it is good enough for people to want it, despite the cost, you should easily be able to make over a 100 bucks on a level. That's not bad if you ask me.
And 50 cent is of course just a wild guess, but I hope prices wont skyrocket...
Still, I'm already hoping I can make some money on this myself ^^

How's sony going to stop people from posting how those maps are created on the internet, so that everyone can just build the map themselves and not have to pay a cent.

I'm sure it couldn't be that hard to reconstruct the most popular maps yourself given instructions.

I wouldn't mind paying for maps, obviously not an obscene amount if it's on a per map (as opposed to map pack) basis. But, it could be good to bundle them (by rating, themes etc).

I think people would much rather spend 0.5$ on a map, than say half an hour creating it themselves

Since this 0.5$ is just a wild guess that point is totally pointless... :P

Since the time it takes to make a map is still up in the air as well, I'd say it is still open.

I wont pay 5$ for something that takes 10 minutes to make, but I would pay 1$ for something that took 1 hour to make

1 hour? i am planning to use months.

Thats why I think this aproach can make more damage than good... quality is this kind of thing is very subjective and reproduction can be achieved by other user...

You can still choose to make your map 'open' so others can edit in it (which of course wont be the case every time), but aside from that you have a point.

I still think that this 'reward' will make a lot of creative users dish out some great content, and I think it will benefit the community in the end, because it will mean that there is more motivation for players to dish out more maps.
