That is the most retarded thing I've read on these forums.
Yeah... ps3 is 100% gaming machine alright. Thats why Sony never fails to mention that it's the cheapest/best/whatever Blu Ray player on the market.
I thought you left >_>

I'll just compare it to the Xbox 360 (because the Wii is not a competitor anyway, right?).
I don't know for you, but the PlayStation 3 has it's share of online games as well, and we can notice an evolution in online gaming on this console with the latest 2.41 update. They're just a bit late in bringing ''that'' appeal to the consumers right now. Where is the online chat everyone is waiting for?
What sells the most on the Xbox 360? First-person shooters. What type of games does the Xbox 360 offer the most? First-person shooters, with games like Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, Battlefield: Bad Company, and the list could go on (you can also add Gears of War, another Xbox 360 exclusive). The PS3's got some of them, but with no live chat, it removes one more thing the consumer could have to create a great experience (or different I may say). Small things like that can make all the difference. If you don't deliver what the competitor can deliver (game and online-wise), then why bother?
By the way, I think gaming hasn't been as much powerful as it is right now. What's wrong with this new world of communications and distribution anyway? Power to the consumer I say. We got more stuff in our boxes and we can still play our ''hardcore'' games as well, so why not?
Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...
welll...the "article" is essentially backwards. nintendo being the most focused on games, with the ps3 being the least. Of course that doesnt have anything to do with why its in 3rd...

Interesting but I view it more like this, that Nintendo and M$ are changing their image, Nintendo had a huge revamp and are the fun family interactive console and while 360 was getting the hardcore vote (then breaking down), they now want the casual as well and are making steps to get that.
Sony are jsut doing what they've always done. Making a multimedia centre for your living room. A machine that can play game as well as movies, this is what they did with PS2 and now with PS3. The are catering for casuals in Buzz, SingStar and GT as well as the hardcore with MSG4 and others.
The key point about why they are third though, it was (and maybe still is) too expensive for general populace, 360 was released a year early and Wii is a fad. (my opinion based on general populace)
Hmm, pie.
umm last time i checked the wii only played games, while the ps3 plays games as well as movies...
Bet With routsounmanman: By the end of Q1 2008 Capcom WONT have announced a RE5 Wii Edition OR a new RE (classic gameplay) for the Wii (WON)
u still think that xbox is about shoooting?
ps3 is in 3rd place because of SONY

| Fei-Hung said: You have sort of complicated why the PS3 is in 3rd place :s PS3 is in 3rd place for one reason only- Delays. They delayed things so much so often before its launch, during its launch and after its launch, they lost their own user base to other consoles and they killed of the hype and excitement that they had built for the console. It doesn't get any simpler my friend. |
It wasn't all about games. It is also about the price of the console, the different SKUs, most gamers/non-gamers don't fancy gritty games like Resistance or whatnot, and the stupid promises given out by Sony. Classical gamers, such as the ones who have stuck with only playing certain franchises (MGS, Ratchet & Clank, GTA, GT, FF, etc.) on the Sony systems only buy those games. Why do you think most of the new IPs fail, like Heavenly Sword? Because people aren't quite familiar with most of them and they look and play a bit with past games (Heavenly Sword = God of War). Plus, the core gamers that are so hyped up about the PS3's saving grace games are only going to feel like crap if those games don't sell. People will be dissappointed and stray away from Sony.
The only reason why the Wii and X360 have sold so well is because their games have variety of genres, in which it excites new and old gamers from younger to older people. Flame me all you want, but you will know when it's true that if Sony keeps making promises how they are going to change gaming with their high expectation, and the PS3's new releases don't sell so well as they had hoped, there will be a lot of people pointing their fingers at Sony and yelling, "Haha, you fucked up!!"
I used to like Sony, but only in the PS2 days. I had absolutely hated the PSOne system because of its graphics and it's stupid and long loading times. The only thing I liked about it were only A FEW games, which were mainly Final Fantasy, as they were more well developed than anything else I saw on the PSOne. PS2 had a very large selection of genres, but still suffered from it's pathetic loading times. It's graphics were decent, but I also absolutely hated the jagged edges of the graphics on any television screen I played on. I only liked it for a few games and as a DVD player. Now that the PS3 appears to be a beast in terms of raw processing power, I like that. But I'm turned down by its price and POOR selection of games that don't even interest me at all. The only reason I would buy it is to play PS2 games by upscaling and as a Blu-Ray player. The other thing I hate about the PS3 is Sony's decision to remove B/C, which I will not buy the system until they include it back. Either hardware (I prefer that) or software (not so much) emulation would be the best, but now it doens't seem likely...

Rock on is spot on!
