Forums - Microsoft - Problem with my New Xbox 360?

My Xbox is over 100 feet away from my modem, so I guess I'll have to buy the wireless reciver. Barely seems worth it, because the signal is weak. Strong enough to download, but sometimes dissconects when playing mario kart Wii. Is there any way to extend the range/stenthen the signal of my wireless router?

If you don't mind the extra hardware, you could get this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124012

You can plug your 360 into it (no need for the wireless adapter), and it should connect to your router better then the adapter from MS.

I would use a third party wireless connecter. 100$ is outrageous for a wireless adapter that probably costs $20 to make.

Just get a long ethernet cable. Seriously, it's super fast!

And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... I hate playing games on wireless.  The only exception is the Wii because you have to without spending money on something!  At my parents house we actually have like 2 100 etherent cables that go down from my moms office, to the basement, then up 2 stories to my brothers and my room.  They are on the opposite ends of the house.  Same goes for at my apartment, we have wireless but we rigged a router box to the ceiling and have a few ethernets running on the ceilings to our rooms.

I'm going to say.. around 5 bucks to make?

Just use wire, it's not worth 80-90 bucks.

I have my 360 hooked upto my ethernet, and my PS3 on wi-fi, and the 360 is certainly a lot quicker

Yeah you should get 100ft ethernet cables or whatever length you need... when i play in our living room I have a 75 ft. cable running under the house from my room where the router and cable modem is to the living room and there's no connection issues whatsoever.

Also, have u tried connecting the 360 directly to the routers ethernet ports at all just to make sure u can connect with no problem? I have an older Netgear router and when i first hooked up my 360 i could connect to Live but when playing online matches it wouldnt let me connect... turns out the router needed a firmware upgrade to allow the 360 to send/receive info. So its possible you may need to do that as well depending on your router

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I have both wired and wireless connections... Get wired it is worth the effort as performance on Live is substantially better, especially with a chat mic.

When you say wireless reciever, do you mean the network adapter for the 360? You still didn't answer strategyking92. Did you never get the network adapter?

Personally, I'd recommend a LAN cable.  I used my wireless for a year, but then moved my router closer to the 360 and then used the cable. The hard connection is really a lot better than the wireless. I don't have any of the connection problems I occationally got with the wireless.

I would never try to play anything online through a wireless connection. It's not reliable enough!
