Forums - Sony - MAG releasing in Spring?

If MAG will only have a multi player portion, or something similar to BF2 where Sp is only there for poor training purposes I don't see any objection to why the game can't be finished that soon. It's been in production for some time anyway.

Anybody know where I can find the game footage btw?

by the looks of things, sony seem to be changing their strategy knowing they are losing to many 3rd party exclusives, they can't afford to keep people waiting so long or the wait will turn to frustration and converting to another console.

IMO they shouldn't even bother give any dates unless they are 100% sure and aint talking from the dark holes of oblivion. I hate it all the smoke and mirrors these game companies use to create illusions and keep us gamers twiddling our thumbs in anticipation for longer then we should.

However, if they do release on time, good on them. I will send them a blu peter badge in a S.A.E for their hard work and efforts!

Why does everyone assume they are going to be delayed. Naughty Dog and Insomniac manage to go without delays, and Santa Monica have never delayed games in the past. they have had plenty of time to work on it, so they can certainly get it out for the holiday

Actually, given that we have absolutely no idea when they are going to be released as we have no idea how much they have been developed as they have just shown CGI trailers, and that does not mean that they do not have gameplay ready, they are just not going to show it

I don't expect inFamous to be released before holiday 2009, and depending on how long Zipper has been working on MAG (They've been silent a long time) I would expect a Summer 2009 - Spring 2010 release.

Personally, I would've pegged both God of War 3 and MAG for Holiday '09, with GoW3 making it out right on time and MAG getting delayed to early 2010 because of the extensive network testing required for such a massive undertaking.

My first thought after reading this statement was that the date was nothing more than a BS placeholder date, but then why not also say that God of War 3 is targeted for Spring 2009? Or why not just give a general "2009" date for both? This got me thinking that there may be some truth to it afterall.

Of course, listing it along with InFamous implies that the game is as far along in development as InFamous. And given the fact that Zipper hasn't worked on anything since a PSP game that released in 2006, much like Guerrilla Games, it's not unreasonable to believe that MAG could make it out in the first half of 2009, much like Killzone 2.

 

Even that only required a part of the team , the other part was already working on then still a "secret" project , so I wouldent be surprised if they started to work on the game from ~ 2.5 years ago ...

Oh crap.....I need to start adding more people to my friend list fast if this is true....!!

Could very well happen, they have been on this project for sometime.

I'd believe that Sony could actually release this game in summer '09. If I'm to understand what MAG is, a big online FPS, then the only real work that the developers need to do is make sure the online works, IMO there have been tons of experience in this area so it shouldn't take as long as some people think.

Since this game is going to be online focused, the amount of PS3 performance squeezing is going to be minimal.

God of War 3 is coming in 09.

Just like I told Naz. They would have had 2 years and 9 months of dev time since GoW 2 ended, when they said they started work on III. There's no way that it would take a competent developer any more than 3 years to make a game.

MAG will be out in Spring 09. Do you think that Zipper was just sitting on their hands since SOCOM PSP came out in 06? I don't think so. And since no one can prove that the MAG trailer is CGi, I have no reason to believe that it is (If it was CGi, it was some crappy CG).

inFAMOUS we all know is coming in Spring 09. Sony's pushing a multi-million dollar marketing advert behind it, it's not getting pushed back.

I doubt Sony will hold back on the hype machine for MAG. That means it'll probably get released a year or more from now, because the hype (from Sony, anyway), hasn't really started yet.
