Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft: 'Stealing Playstation franchises is very important to us'

They started stealing Apple

They continue stealing Sony

That is fair, that is how they function.

That's just an awesome cocky interview.
Guys got some brass...

Balls!?

Truth is, without stealing exclusives, 360 owners would be stuck with Halo, Fable, Forza, Viva Pinata, and Perfect Dark Zero.

MS had to steal, or they had nothing.

I think Sony had it all to lose this generation. Going from first to last place with the amount of exclusive third party content they had, it was always going to be hard to hold onto any of their franchises.

They laughed at Nintendo. =o

WoW, they really said that. =))

Too bad, x360 still will fail. This is the last x360 year, then it will be forgotten.)

Every 5 seconds on earth one child dies from hunger...

2009.04.30 - PS3 will OUTSELL x360 atleast by the middle of 2010. Japan+Europe > NA.

Gran Turismo 3 - 1,06 mln. in 3 weeks with around 4 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Gran Turismo 4 - 1,16 mln. with 18 mln. PS2 on the launch.

Final Fantasy X - around 2 mln. with 5 mln. PS2 on the launch.
Final Fantasy X-2 - 2.4 mln. with 12 mln. PS2 on the launch.

1.8 mln. PS3 today(2008.01.17) in Japan. Now(2009.04.30) 3.16 mln. PS3 were sold in Japan.
PS3 will reach 4 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 25k.

PS3 may reach 5 mln. in Japan by the end of 2009 with average weekly sales 50k.
PS2 2001 vs PS3 2008 sales numbers =) + New games released in Japan by 2009 that passed 100k so far

HOnestly how such a low company has fanboys is beyond me,
The only thing that they're doing is copying the success of the playstation with force (DOLLARS), and the saddening part is that sony seems to have no answer at all :(

Microsofts strategy: Study what made the PS2 popular, then buy everything with cash (DMC, FF, GTA, Star ocean, RE, Silent hill, Winning eleven....), thank god that MGS is still exclusive to the system.
so what next??? Kingdom hearts on 360?, maybe, FF 7 ? propably, FF Versus 13 ? surely

as a sony fan i am disgusted by these times, i mean its ok to have mutliplatform games , but to force a company to land its flagship title on 360 is just pathetic (FF 13 !!!!!)

Competition is great between rivalling console makers, but this is no competition, prepare to hear soon that GOD of War is now a multiplatform game (i took it too far i guess :))

Also, how exactly were they 'forced'?  We have no idea of the conditions under which the FFXIII agreement came to be.  "Oh, boo hoo!  Microsoft offered them money to help offset the astronomical development cost and they accepted it!  Shock!"

Is anyone really surprised to read this. M$ is celebrating games that are available on other systems while sony is now focused on hyping their own 1st party games. We'll see which strategy is better in the long term.

..and Perfect Dark was stolen from Nintendo. It was good back in those days.

why did you put "stealing" when he actually says "taking"?

Because that's what they do.

theft is a criminal activity... report them to the police quick!!!!

so its not because SE wanted extra profits from selling to a userbase of 20m+ 360 owners then?

Extra profits - in the form of the M$ check. The PS3 FF13 will vastly outsell the X360 reducing SE's extras to not so significant, mark my words mate.

The thing is, unlike the original xbox, these games will still come to ps3...even SO4. Anyone can quote me on this. When it boils down to it, the war now lies on the 1st party side and sony's 1st party trumps M$.

This is all Sony's fault and we know it people, they were arrogant and the PS3 is still very expensive for most console gamers...
