E3 2008: GTA DS Details

Developer, features and more revealed on official website.

July 15, 2008 - Today Nintendo unleashed the big surprise: a Grand Theft Auto game is being developed exclusively for the Nintendo DS. While no other details were revealed at this press conference announcement, Rockstar Games has offered up more information on its official website.

Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars is being developed by Rockstar Leeds, the same team responsible for the two PSP Grand Theft Auto games. Rockstar Leeds was once known as Mobius and worked extensively on the Game Boy Advance platform, creating the impressive Max Payne conversion for Rockstar nearly a half decade ago.

The team will be recreating the GTA experience on the Nintendo DS, utilizing touch screen controls in the open-environment design. The website reveals that the game will also feature online support, an option that never made it into the PSP versions of the game.

We'll have more on Grant Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars as details are made available.

I wonder if there'll be hooker-touching!

That would be epic, badgenome.

No mention of if it will be more like GTA 2 or 3?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."
