Final Fantasy XIII is a draw for the hardcore, but almost no-one else.

 

And yet whenever brought up the fact that FFXII only sold 5 million a few weeks ago they were hounded by Sony fans who said "Well the first FF always sells best (FF7, FF10)" 

Then yesterday people started bringing FFXII's sales back up.  Face it, over this weekend Sony fans expected FFXIII to be a massive AAA exclusive for them and sell over 10 million.  Then on Monday they realized they had to share it with the 360 and some people who already had a 360 suddenly have no reason to pick up a PS3.

I've got nothing to face. I'm not a Sony fan, I hate RPGs, and I couldn't even have told you what number Final Fantasy was up to until yesterday. Like it or not I'm far more representative of your average game player in this blue ocean age than a rabid Microsoft or Final Fantasy fan who thinks this matters to anyone other than a few like-minded people. I started a conversation about E3 today with some friends who play games but aren't 'gamers'. They'd never heard of E3 and didn't understand what exclusive games were because they don't exist in any other form of entertainment. A game going multiplatform is not a big deal to anyone outside of the hardcore gaming community.

PS3 is still getting FF13 and Most likely it will sell more on that platform. MS gets the wow factor though. SONY IMO.

...and just to be very clear, even if sony did win(which they didn't, not even close, this is damage control and spin) the Sony press conference still was only the least dissapointing of the three. They all sucked relatively to what we expected, and despite hopes, the only day fanboys were owned was Day 1, 5 minutes before the end of the MS press conference.

If fanboys getting owned and the biggest debocle on the internet in recent memory isnt' enough to Win E3, I don't know what is. MS press conference is about a 9/10 just for that fact. Go back to those older posts and see how we initially rated it before the Sony fanboy spin, or go to any other website and see how crappy and dissapointed people were with it.

both nintendo and sony had rubbish presentations (no new interesting games announced ; i heard about zipper's "MAG" before e3 started). microsofts saving grace was taking a feather from sony's hat, otherwise their presentation would of fallen in line with sony's and nintendo's crap.

all in all nothing exciting (sans ff13 on x360) has come out of the 3 confrences.

What did they show that was groundbreaking? I guess you are a fan of casual titles? Sony won easily. Infamous, MAG, 80gb for 399, video store. They owned everything MS had.

They stole the frigging exclusivity of PS3's most important game. You can damage control all you want, but that ALONE is enough to win E3.

Besides that the Netflix deal is enormous. Gears of War 2 was at least equal to Resistance 2.

That was the most talked/hyped thing. Isn't winning E3 about gaining the most hype?

Yeah, MS got the most hype for a game that won't see the light of day for Years at least.  Sure to really help them in the short run.  A game coming out nowhere in the near future.

Again I pose the question: did MS win in 06 when they stole GTA IV? No, we can all agree that Nintendo won that year. So there goes that idea.

 

want to bet that FF13 will release earlier than God of War 3? Cause that one ain't seeing the light for at least 2 more years.

And yeah: E3 06 was won by Nintendo. So what does that prove: that Nintendo's 2008 E3 was weaker than its 2006 E3.

Sony won hands down. Microsoft's show was a joke until the FFXIII announcement but then again, it will still be on the PS3, Still launch exclusively in Japan on Ps3, and as of right now Ps3 still has FFXIII versus exclusively, so even with that announcement they still lose. Ill give Microsoft the surprise factor but its sad that people think that getting a game already confirmed on another system is a major keynote.
