There's no way that MAG footage was in-game ... is there? It looked pre-rendered. :S

I'm remembering tribes 2 days.... 64 player servers were usually terrible. Clusterfucks over the objectives, while 18-20 retards did their own thing running in circles doing nothing to help their team.
Joint Ops had squad based combat if I recall, and 64 man servers.... and it sucked. Joining random pubs had horrible turnover so your never had a reliable squad unless you had preorganized it, and the same thing with clusterfucks and entire squadrons of retards.
They had better do this right or it could be downright ugly

What does it mean to have 8 person squads though?
Will you be running alongside other squads? Will there be near 100 people onscreen at a time? Or is the battle largely separated? I'm afraid this will disappoint somehow.

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release. (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

your a dev.. devs always talk about pushing limits. I think they are meaning pushing limits of current knowledge of the console. |
True, but I'm just talking about how a year ago KZ2 was pushing the PS3 to its limit but now it's not even using 80% of the PS3's SPU's. This year MAG is pushing the hardware to its limit but next year is it only going to be using 80% of the SPU's too?
If I hear talk of one more MMO project, I will go on a killing spree and eradicate a slew of developers. Get some new ideas. Now.
I wrote this in another thread.
MAG sounds interesting, however just watching a movie is not enough to provide any type of reasonable evaluation. The main problem with large multiplayer battles isn't processing power, but internet bandwidth.
Every MMO I've played with more than a couple dozen people battling in the same area has lagged badly in my experience. I hope it works but until it's shown in actual real world conditions, I'll reserve judgment.
I don't know how I feel about this. I'd say Zipper is a good developer, but they ruined Socom with the bump to 32 players. So 256 players definitely makes me wary. I've always liked the idea of an mmo shooter, played Planetside, but it wasn't that great. Oh well, I'll stay optimistic.
The only concern I have about this game is to really enjoy it you need 95% of the people in the game to take it seriously, I think there will always be people who go off and mess it up for everyone else - Teamkilling, randomly drawing attention to allys Heck a whole squad of friends going around Teamkilling the rest of the side would totally destroy a good game of this.
I dont see why it cant be in game. Killzone2 has far better graphics then MAG.
When the keynote boring fart made reference to pushing the ps3, he did say it is pushing the ps3 architecture to its limits. Does that mean Zipper has mastered the cell and managed to make the most out of every SPE? :S
