Forums - Nintendo - Im Confused....

Yep, another peripheral device that will cost money to buy. Similar to Sony introducing DualShock3. I don't want to have to shell out more money for a different controller. The difference here is that games that support Motion Plus don't support backward compatibility which means if you own a Wii this is a must have if you plan on playing the games that support it.

Now Playing: Crysis 2

Last Finished: BulletStorm

It's probably because we knew about it in advance, and because Nintendo did a lot to hype their conference, so while I'm sure it'll be fantastic (I'm getting Resort just for the swordfighting) the conference itself failed to live up to expectations.

IT was a good thing to see that, and Wii sports Resort is interesting..

Don't even compare it... With Nintendo's peripheral, you're actually getting something innovative which wasn't available before...

Regarding the last part of your post, it's also an unknown how games will use it. Some of them may program in different modes of play depending on which controller you have/you would like to use.

Dont understand why you are confused. People want games to play not novelty swinging bats and and mindlessly pressing buttons acting as if its an instrument. Sony's eyetoy suffered from the problem- the novelty wore out. You have to give good reasons for people to enjoy these new peripherals and to go out and buy them. Waving stuff around can be fun given the right context, the E3 conference showed a brilliant peripheral but nothing mildly interesting to use it on.

Its like Ferrari announcing a new brilliant engine but no body of a car to go with it. It would be pointless!

Why is Motion Plus getting no love?

It responded to movement with true 1 : 1.

It worked without fail, was presented perfectly with WS:R.

This is what we all wanted, its here full immersion.

Yet you're all complaining, im confused?

Give a mouse a cookie....etc...

For whatever various reasons people lose perspective in these things, there were plenty of good announcements but because there wasn't exactly what the core gamers wanted with immediate delivery it wasn't good enough.  Instant gratification is an addiction for most internet users, so anything less is going to elicit this kind of reaction.

For those who watched the presentation with realistic expectations it was a good showing, nothing spectacular but nothing dissapointing.  The irony of this is that a lot of the people who said Nintendo needs to let 3rd parties take the lead are now upset that Nintendo supposedly isn't developing for them.

Cut past the unreasonable expectations and all the crap and Nintendo had a solid conference, probably a 7-8 out of 10 for me.

@Sqrl: I'd agree, except that the presentation skills were really poor today... Did they announce some interesting things? Yeah... Did they fail at announcing most them? Yeah...

Thats true just about every year though, and for all three companies and most third parties.  I don't think Nintendo was any worse or better in that regard than MS.  Although I will say the opening speech was pretty good despite the accent.

I've they had announced MotionPlus along with a new Zelda, I'd be freaking out right now.

But they didn't, so I'm not. :(

But they did say the Mario and Zelda teams are both working on something.

I didn't expect to see something about Mario since Galaxy was just released less than a year ago but I still wouldn't be surprised to see something Zelda before the week is over.

I liked the use of the word "paradigm". ;)

I'm excited as HELL about the sword fighting. Dueling my dad will be frickin' awesome.

I hoped that it would be packed with Zelda, but I still hold on to the hope that Zelda will have 1:1 controls. They could still eventually pack it with Zelda.
