Forums - Nintendo - 1:1 wiimote addon -FROM NINTENDO- coming e3 preview

This annoucement is staged to steal Microsoft's thunder. Nintendo knew about the XBox's motion controller. They know it'll be demoed at E3 in a few hours. So Nintendo annouces their own 1 to 1 controller beforehand.

IMO, this confirms that the XBox wiimote is real, and is 1 to 1.

I would be very suprised if M$ controller will be 1 to 1.

Hmm, this is cool for sure, and my first reaction was "WHAT? MAN THIS IS AWESOME!" but after thinking about it for a second I feel that it would have been wiser to wait with this for the Wii 2.

I mean, what's the use of this add-on, not many developers will make games for this unless all Wii owners will upgrade to this. And if they do, then the people who don't upgrade are left with an inferior controller.

Hmm.

I think they will release another Wii remote with this advanced feature built in, so the people who don't have it have the option of buying it, and i can see any game using this, being bundled with it. So out of all the companies u would have expected to announce motion controls this E3 u would not have though nintendo would be first!

But i really don't know how to judge this move, because as a Wii owner i am actually excited, but from a perspective of just analyzing this industry i don't know how to judge it.

One thing is for sure though, they new the rest would try to do the whole motion control thing, and they had their preemptive strike ready, a few hours b4 Microsoft's E3, i wonder how long they had this under raps. This was no shoddy response at all, they new it would ! Nintendo are going to battle for their space and make sure no one takes it. I love the smell of disruption in the morning

This does set the Wiimote apart from the nunchuck though...now only one of your hands will have very accurate motion controls...the nunchuck was already the less accurate device.

How do you make a boxing game with only one accurate hand?

Two Wiimotes.

...I could have thought of that...

Still, it just kinda bugs me that the nunchuck doesn't also get an upgrade.

Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

Anyone know if this will enhance the controls on existing games? Wii Sports boxing is great fun even with the broken controls. If this fixes them I'll be very happy.

but really what does it do? You cant really change much unless they added a tilt sensor to it.

Wiimote already has tilt, just not 1:1 accuracy.

A valid use of this that no one has really mentioned is a flightstick.  PilotWings anyone?

I think people should stop declaring ownage until we actually see what this thing is capable of. I understand that the press release suggests 1:1 movement...but until we see people using it and verifying this we know nothing.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Man, what is this crap...just make freaking M rated games for grownups Nintendo. You already have motion controls...you don't need to make them motion-ier.

I'm so gonna sell my Wii after E3 if nintendo is doing more peripherals...
  1. What does this do with having M rated games?
  2. Nintendo isn't the only one that makes games for the console.

I don't want to trash this as I am going to wait for nintendo to comment about it first...but you don't think enough is enough with peripherlas?

True.  Unless they release an updated nunchuck.  But here's the question: How many fans would that anger....and how many sony/microsoft fans would swoop in and say "whoop Dee F'N Doo....You should have done that two years ago."
