Forums - Sony - I bought my PS3, game suggestions time

Also, yes, Resistance, the first one is very meh. It's not the best of anything, lol, you'll see if you play it, heh. Halo 3 was better and that's bad.

Do get Call of Duty 4. That and Bioshock blow most other shooters out of the water, except for perhaps Metroid Prime 3, this gen. Great, amazing games.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

I haven't played enough demos yet to give many impressions. Only played through R&C and Folklore demos, which I'd played in the past. I also downloaded: Siren, Resistance, DBZ, Heavenly Sword, Ninja Gaiden, Simpsons Game, Haze (for shits and giggles), The Darkness, Condemned 2, Civ Rev, Burnout Paradise, and Uncharted.

The interface is functional. Nothing special, but then I didn't expect it to be. It's easy to use, and the PSN store is nice and well-organized. It's really what I want. I don't want things to be overdone. That's why I liked the Wii channels, and that's why I'll probably never use Home.

I am using this theme.

That's all the demos I can fit on my hard drive at once. I'm gonna start deleting them as I go. Right now I'm basically just downloading them and installing them (while more download in the background).

Sony had some good offerings on the PSN that are unique and I think you would enjoy.

Super StardustHD  - think Geometry wars style shooter on a spherical world
Echochrome - 3d platform-esque puzzle game
Pixeljunk Monsters - think a cutesy desktop defense game

If you're a PC gamer skip pretty much any of the console shooters they offer there (I know you did already for most).  One exception if you like online multiplayer at all and I haven't seen recommended yet would probably be Battlefield: Bad Company.  The single player is forgettable but if you played and liked the earlier series on PC I think you'll enjoy this game. It's simplified a little from the PC versions as far as classes and unlocks but it has some of the best sound design I've ever heard, graphics are good for a online game, and the destructable environments are awesome.  I may be biased because it's probably my favorite online PC series.

Uncharted - It's a good 3rd person shooter.  Even as a PC gamer I think the TPS genre is done better on a console and this is exclusive.  Story is pretty cliche but action is good and graphics are very well done.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - It's a pretty version of Black but if you like the series it's a worth pickup at soon to be $30

I would skip Burnout.  I was a big fan of earlier games but just couldn't get into Paradise.  The series has been going downhill since 3 IMO.

Resistance is OK.  It was a good launch game but the framework it laid is solid and makes me anticipate what they're going to do for the sequel.

If you're interested in Heavenly Sword rent it.  Even at $30 it's too much.  I beat the game in a day and a half.  Enjoyable but doesn't scream replay-value to me.

Burnout isn't good?  Man that's a major disappointment.  I was a HUGE fan of Burnout 3.  Played it hours upon hours.  I'm interested in Resistance 2 so that's probably enough reason to pick up Resistance for $30.  Couldn't care less for KZ2 though. Heavenly Sword I definitely am not ready to pay $30 for.  Renting seems like a good idea, unless I can find it for $20 or less.  Uncharted I'll probably buy.

What's up with this thread? It's like every 5 posts someone is banned.

Anywho, congrats on the purchase Naz.

Also, now that you're a PS3 owner... how do you feel about FFXIII not being exclusive?  Have you had a sudden change of heart (like so many others -_-) or do you still recognize the steaming piles of crap that proceed FFIX?

I've always been vocal of the fact that imo FFXIII will blow.  On the other hand, after TWEWY, I have hope for Nomura's project, Versus.

After FFVI, the only FF I've liked is FFIX, which was brilliant.  I have no real hope for the main series titles in FF anymore.  Ironically, the spinoffs tend to be better.

So can we expect a PS3 review coming - the Naznatips version?

I disagree. I LOVE burnout paradise. It was tons of fun and there was always something to do!

I hate reviewing consoles.  It's an ever-changing experience and you can't possibly accurately review it.  I will however post impressions in a couple days when I've got a good feel for it.  So far they are great.

After watching the first episode of Planet Earth on Blu-ray I have no second thoughts about my purchase.  I already had a spare HDMI cable so I was watching it in all its HD glory.  It was absolutely breathtaking.

As long as it doesn't suddenly eat your Wii when you're not looking, you'll probably enjoy it.  Sounds like you'll get some of your money's worth out of it as a Bluray player if nothing else.
