Forums - Nintendo - The hardest time to be a Nintendo fanboy was....

I remember running away from some older kids who where not liking my super cool Super Mario Bros 3 sneakers... the older kids had a Megadrive and were Sonic fans... but boy, I could run fast on those sneakers!!

For me, probably mid-end of the N64 era, I was getting all these great 3rd party PS1 games, but my entire games library for the N64 consisted of nothing but Nintendo or Rare (aside from a few choice titles).

Dark times, still DK64, Mario Tennis, SSB, Super Mario 64, Banjo, star fox, mario party, Golden Eye, Perfect Dark kept me entertained. Bit weird, but I probably spent more time playing SSB and Mario Tennis then my entire PS1 collection sans FF8, but the PS1 collection had many many many more games. Weird, but that's a pretty big indicator of the longevity of Nintendo's games.

Next pick would have been the current situation, but this generation hasn't ended yet, so we won't know how much love the Wii gets until it's all over.

LOL! Good stuff!

That's a no brainer. The GameCube years.

Ironically though, that period offered MASTEPIECES (The Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine, Animal Crossing to name a few).

The N64 days. Nintendo was going down, and I thought they had made the best home console ever. Still do to this day. That was very hard to watch.

As I was an unrepentant Sega fanboy until the death of the Dreamcast (once upon a time, if you cut me, I bled Sega blue), I can only speculate but I think it's pretty obvious the N64 was their darkest hour (I had one, of course, but since you got games once every blue moon and there were giant, gaping, holes in *every* genre except various types of platformers, it was hard to really celebrate the N64 era--that said, I did (do) actually own a 64DD and loved Doshin the Giant to death).
